This is the final test for your recruits.  When they pass this, they are sailors and trade in their recruit cap for their sailor cap in a capping ceremony afterwards. The ship they do this on was designed by Disney, so it is very realistic. During…Continue

All I have gotten was my form letter, hoping tomorrow I receive something better. :( I know too that no news is good news, but I sit in my house so lonesome everyday with a dog that looks at me with this terrible sad face because she doesn't understand! To all the ladies who haven't gotten letters yet, keep your chins up. They'll come soon! :)

I am so happy to hear that alot of you have gotten letters and calls from your loved ones!!! How exciting!!!

I hope I get a letter soon, although I know better than to depend on the thought of getting mail. My husband is a very focused person and even told me not to feel bad if I don't get one. He said it does not mean he does not love me it just means he is working hard and using his spare time wisely..... but I secretly hope he sends me at least one or two while he is there!

I wish the time went by faster! I work from home, so the days just drag....

My bf is an E3 and he is still an SR

SR stands for Seaman Recruit which is a rate E1.  My son became an E2 would that then make him a SA Seaman Apprentice?  Anyone have insight to this stuff?

Finally got some letters today. He sent them out monday. Got five total dating back to the first week. So relieved to hear that he is doing well. The letter was just what i needed to get through the next few weeks. Keep your chins up, the letters will come.

DorriO, Dec6, StaceyinTX, BBWin....and everybody waiting for letters...I pray they come soon for you.

Its such a huge relief to get a letter and know that everything is at least okay.  However, the jubilation fades....does anyone else feel that way?  I rec'd a letter on Monday and already feel like its time for #2 already!

Lexsmom....your girl sounds like she's doing just fine....hoping my letter is here tomorrow since our SRs are same division....I'm in PA, so mine seem to be about a day behind yours! (LOL! I'm analyzing mail patterns now.....)

I guess better to have the Navy cover the cost of wisdom tooth removal than the parents.  I had mine out and it was crazy expensive.  They weren't even impacted.  The total bill was like $1600.00.  Thank god I had dental insurance.  Anything dental is a bite out of a persons pocketbook.
Comment by Arwen on December 29, 2010 at 10:05pm
Regarding wisdom tooth removals: the Navy policy is to remove any wisdom teeth that might maybe someday possibly cause a problem if you look at it sideways and squint.  By now any dentist assigned to RTC is an expert in wisdom tooth extraction.
