This is the final test for your recruits.  When they pass this, they are sailors and trade in their recruit cap for their sailor cap in a capping ceremony afterwards. The ship they do this on was designed by Disney, so it is very realistic. During…Continue

Each division does have their own flags, but not necessarily colors. All of the divisions in my son's group had black fabric on which they designed their division flags.

Good morning all from the "Left Coast"....Great idea about showing our support for our Divisions at the PIR.  It could very well be that each division does have their own colors and own flag.  Maybe we can check to see if that is the case and match accordingly.

Hang in there, Britt. Once the letters start to come, it is so much eaiser....and then a phone call...well, happy dance for sure!  Stay on this board for support...

Yes, NavyPops. That is true...mail is held the first 2 weeks.  During that time, the recruit that will be handling the mail is trained from what I was told, Fed rules.  Usually when you get a letter saying "Why aren't you writing" and you HAVE written, your letters have crossed in the mail and they have now received them by the time his/her letter reaches you.

I am looking for a phone call soon from my son, I think it is about time they give him one. I so want to hear his voice...... I know some of you still have not received a letter but it is like an addiction once you get a taste of it you stalk the mail man that much more. you start to wait on the phone call that so far hasnt come.  and jump everytime the phone rings just to see if it could be them. hang in there ladies we are getting closer.

Lexsmom,

Sorry, I might have been the one that swiped the kleenex . .    ;-)

Thanks, everyone!  It was definitely therapeutic to make it ... I have done okay so far with her being gone, but Christmas was especially hard.  I have only gotten the "I'm here" phone call, one letter (the first week, I think because her division was a "push" division and they hadn't started training yet) and a couple of lines on the form letter ...

45 days and counting!

Tis -can I say OMG.....that was so beautiful. I have to tell you my 14 yr old daughter was watching with me and she is planning on signing with the Air Force when she graduates and I was in tears....The song with the crooked smile part reminded me of her baby smile......very personal and thank you for sharing and it reminds me to hug them while we still have them home!  Thank you so much
