This is the final test for your recruits.  When they pass this, they are sailors and trade in their recruit cap for their sailor cap in a capping ceremony afterwards. The ship they do this on was designed by Disney, so it is very realistic. During…Continue

Arwen- So there are taxi/shuttles on base available as well? Sorry, I just want to make sure I know what's available if I do plan on staying there. I'm going to call them tomorrow for more information.

The Navy Lodge is on base, and is only 1,000 feet from the RTC barracks, but there is no direct way to get there. You have to go the LONG way around, which makes it about a 1.5 mile trip. The taxi/shuttle
ride is very inexpensive (can be $3 each, or $12 to go alone), if you
get a group of moms/girlfriends going together.

Here's the Google Map of Great Lakes, and the route. A is Navy Lodge, B is MCPON Hall, where they hold PIRs. The barracks is the grouping of big white-roofed buildings in the middle.

Anyone staying at the Navy Lodge? I know it's ON base, so would I have to take a taxi/shuttle to the front gate still? Can't I just walk to the PIR room?

Mamawalrus...you are so right, it seems that we have a great common bond, and even though we have not even seen each other or know what we each sound like it is truly amazing what we do for each other here everyday, and sometimes every hour! I honestly don't know where I would be with out N4M and everything that I have learned here.

Well  tomorrow is a new day and all who have not rec'd that letter i will pray you get that tomorrow... and I know I will hear you scream from there to here! :)     Also....that means it is another week almost down and the time is getting closer!   I truly am amazed at how little we know of each other except a few things but the common factor of our future sailors is enought to keep us together like a puzzle.  Our locations vary, whether we are the top (north)piece, bottom (south) piece on sides (east and west),,,,we all are an important part piece!  Have a great night!

ame7.  Hang in there...My grandson is in Div 804 arrived at BC on Dec 8th.  I have not seen any calls here on N4M from that Div yet.  I can assure you the Navy has its methods and reasons, I have to believe it is in the best interest of our loved ones.  So we just have to have faith and trust in what they know works.  And it does.
