This is the final test for your recruits.  When they pass this, they are sailors and trade in their recruit cap for their sailor cap in a capping ceremony afterwards. The ship they do this on was designed by Disney, so it is very realistic. During…Continue

Merry Christmas everyone!  So glad that many of you have gotten calls.  Still nothing here.  I'm taking my phone everywhere I go in hopes it might ring.  I still don't have a card or letter either.  Hopefully soon.  Have a great evening and hopefully more phones will ring.

No call from my son yet also in Ship 09 Div 071. I hope it is just because they are going by division and that his division has not had their turn yet. But not really expecting a call either it is the luck of the draw.

The Navy Inn is for people in the military and their families, including parents, siblings or anyone else who may stay with their sailor. Usually your sailor has to make the reservations and check you in, but the Navy Inn at Great Lakes makes special allowances for boot camp families. You can make the reservations and check in, as long as you have their complete information, including full name, division, PIR date and social security number.

Wow, I've never heard of them allowing holiday calls like this before. You are all very lucky.

I got a phone call today along with the others who did! I was so happy
to hear his voice. It was definitely the best Christmas gift ever! He
asked me if I received any letters other than the form packet, but I
haven't! At least I know he got the chance to write me. We only got to talk for about 2 minutes because after that I heard someone yelling in the back and he said "Okay, I have to go now, I love you" - I thought we'd be able to talk a little longer, but I'm sure they have to go through all the divisions too.

I hope all are enjoying a Wonderful Holiday.  For those who recieved calls and letters, what wonderful gifts they were, and thanks for sharing with all of us.

For those that have not I am sure you will as soon as it is possible with the heavy holiday mail etc.  I know at times we question why the rules are they way they are with regard to letters and calls.  Having been in the service many years ago, I can assure you they have their reasons and in the end it is all in the best interest of our loved ones.  The lessons the service teaches will be with them all of their lives, and for the betterment of their future in or out of the Navy.

Enjoy the rest of the day and the weekend.
