This is the final test for your recruits. When they pass this, they are sailors and trade in their recruit cap for their sailor cap in a capping ceremony afterwards. The ship they do this on was designed by Disney, so it is very realistic. During…Continue

Yayy!!! I just got the BEST Christmas present ever!! I FINALLY got a real letter!!!! It was hard to read thru the tears, but I did it. He's doing okay so far. The shot in the behind was the worst pain ever. He actually told me I was right about the PIR date. Before he left I told him it would probably be that day. Who knew? He says he misses us all sooo much. The folding of clothes is something he is quite the fondest of. They have to pass that or they end up getting pushed back a couple of weeks. That would really not be a good thing. But other than that, he's doing okay and he'll take things day to day. I will write him again right now and tell him to keep his head up and I KNOW he can do this and we will for sure see him on 2/11. Wow, I am so excited!!
To all the other moms, you WILL get your letters. I didn't think I would either, but it finally came.
I hope everyone has a great holiday. You know your sons/daughters wouldn't want anything different.
I stayed at the Navy Lodge last year. It is the closest hotel to base (it is actually on base). It's clean, basic. Some of the rooms have full kitchens, they allow pets, and the staff is very friendly and helpful.
I would be a bit cautious of the Ramada. The hotel itself is good, but it's in a bad neighborhood. Earlier this year a murder victim was found behind the hotel, on the hotel grounds itself. It wasn't a hotel guest, it was someone from the area. Nothing has ever happened to guests, just don't take any long walks in the area.
Merry Christmas to all of you....just know we are all shedding tears together...this quote makes me feel alot better about it too...I hope it brings all of you some sense of comfort also......
Mikki- Changed my picture, too, and nothing yet :( Glued to the phone. I carry it everywhere (in my hand) :)
At least I have work to keep my occupied today.
Very well said Proud usa mom...sometimes I forget about the families who loved ones are serving abroad...we will eventually adapt to the new lifestyle our recruit has given us by choosing to serve our wonderful country.
MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL MY NAVY FAMILY, and hope all your wishes come true.
Hope you all have a wonderful Christmas weekend!
I know it is difficult to enjoy the holidays with our recruits away, but we all need to remember that they are only in BC and they are safe. I don't think any of them want any of us sitting around being sad just because they are not home with us. I know we will all have a moment or two where we just need to run to the rest room and cry, yet I hope we all can remember that we are not the only people missing our loved ones this weekend. Whether you received a letter or not, know in your heart that your recruit is thinking of you this weekend and they are wishing for you to have a happy celebration!! Take care everyone and be safe!
