Ok....so....77 should be calling first....then 78.....79.....80! Calls should start in the next 2 hours or so and go for a good while with 4 divisions. Be sure to ask your new sailor if all in his/her division passed. Post that. He/she will probably not know about the other divisions, just their own. This is an exciting day! Remember, some may have watch and miss their calls :-( Let's hope no one on here!
Just think...the 2/11 group just concluded PIR a little while ago....sigh....their sailors are in their arms! Can you imagine that? This time next week...yep, there you are! As much as you think you know what it will be like, you don't....it is so much more wonderful. I remember trembling I was so excited...I had to calm it down for my son...he would have thought I was ridiculous...but I have to say, when we finally found him after PIR...yes, couldn't find him....it was so good to see his face again! I hadn't spotted him during PIR at all...
We decided to be "smart"...we thought...and stayed in the bleachers as the "herd" stampeded the hall floor when liberty was called. Almost got trampled as they tried to get by us....so we waited....thinking that he would see just us standing in the bleachers....and we waited....and waited....nothing...so we meandered into the masses on the floor...and eventually found him casually talking to some other sailors. WHAT? He just casually said, "Oh, hi...how ya doing?" What the heck? He had not seen us during the entire ceremony...said he looked straight ahead the whole time...so I guess he wasn't sure we were there? I don't know....but he was like a deer in headlights as we rode the shuttle back. I asked why he looked like that. He said, "Mom, we have not been off this base, outside these gates in almost 11 weeks (his was longer because of being asmoed for a week and then the Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years holidays caused delays)....it feels so good to get out and just look at things!" HA! So that is what we did....off to Cracker Barrel for lunch, then just drove around the beautiful area (snow was so pretty)....and ended up in a school pickup line on a small residential street...hysterical because we couldn't get out of it right away...well, I thought it was funny...my 2 sons (25 and 23(sailor)) were not so thrilled!
Anyway, sorry to ramble...but I'm getting excited for you all because I know what is ahead for you....the I'm a Sailor call is the start of it...and it gets better and better! HOOYAH!
