Good morning, Our plane arrived later than we anticipated so were unable to meet with all that I had hoped to find at the Meet and Greet. Graduation was beautful and moving. We caught up with Scottsmom it turned out our boys had become friends so we got a chance to get acquainted. Scott is awesome as is his family. I also ran into so many that knew nothing about N4Ms so I gave the Navyformoms.com to everyone I saw. Is there any way we can get the word out to the new moms other than word of mouth? It is too bad that when a new recruit signs up at the recruiters that they can't give Mom the website address. I realize it is not an official site...but it most definitely is a support group and family. I don't know what we would have done without the support of all of you on this site. Thanks again for the experienced Moms who watch over us, Diannep and Lala, I had so many compliments and inquiries about the ribbons they were absolutely beautiful. I was so disappointed that I missed meeting so many of you. But as you know the weekend is about our boys and they take precedence. Ours simply wanted to hand with family and be a lounge lizard, take a long, hot shower. We found a fun out of the way pizza, ribs, and pasta place called Silo that was absolutely great. Service was excellent and the best thing we didn't have to wait in line. We stayed ate the Navy Lodge approx. 1 mile.....wonderfully close to both RTC and GL A school so when he moved over to A school going back and forth was just a breeze. It wasn't fancy but accomodations were clean, staff very courteous and accomodating, as many towels as you needed and breakfast to go. So what else did we need! We shopped for computer and cell phone and visited the Jelly Belly Factory which was just 20 mins from the base since he had to be back to base every night and return Sun. at noon. the distance was perfect for a quick get away outing. I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend and hope to stay in contact with you as the boys move along in their career. Good Luck and congratulations families.
Hi,
We got home Sunday night late. Our trip was wonderful....the graduation was awesome, and I am so glad we got to attend. YMM....my grandson really knows your son....he said..."he is cool". Originally, our grandson was told he'd have to leave at 2 am Sat. morning. Plans changed for him, and he did not have to leave until 12 noon on Sunday. so we got to spend Friday, Sat. He wanted to see a movie, so we went to Gurnee Mills. Men went to movie, daughter in love and I shopped. We also got a clearance to go in secured area of Midway to wait with him until he left. A chief arrived from Afganastan, and all the sailors at Midway lined up to salute her as she exited the plane...she shook hands with all of our boys...very moving.
We dropped our SA off at the base this evening after his last day of liberty. We extended our stay an extra day, but have to head home early tomorrow morning. All I feel is overwhelmingly sad. Fortunately, I know that feeling will pass with time and from knowing that he's doing what he wants to do. I guess it's back to feeling teary and wimpy for a few days. Hang in there, Moms!
