Our son is ship 12 div 101, he was originally supposed to ship out on 1/11 however he was delayed a week because of bad weather. I think this is the group being pushed through in 7 weeks.  We received the box within 3 days and just got the letter yesterday. We are in Pennsylvania and are looking for all and any information we can get !! This is really hard!

Congrats Jean!  I have a feeling that they just MAY get some mail on this Sunday....will they have been there over 2 weeks then?  Yes, they will have mountains of mail from some of you, and they love that.  Can't write those recruits too often...it's impossible...so write alot!  They LIVE for contact from family and friends...so get all to write and write often.  Remind them though...only encouraging news...nothing negative...they are cut off from everything else going on in the world and need only encouragement to get through this.

Ohhh okay I just wasn't sure if there would be variations amongst the divisions on when they would be receiving mail. I hope he gets my mail soon! I've sent so much crap it's ridiculous. Seriously 3 things mailed every day. Cards filled to the max with writing, 5 page letters front and back, pictures, sudoku puzzles, word search, magazine articles...the man won't be bored for a SECOND haha :)

Frandrea, each division has a mail person and that person has to be trained before they can deliver mail.

Do they have a mail person for each division or each ship?

We are gathering there;  my nephew is in that same division!  When did he get there?

Hapsmom, thanks for sharing the info about Ship 12 DIV 095. When my son called (for three minutes) on January 15th he said he would be writing the next day. I haven't received any letters yet, other than the form letter. Thanks for the update on their mail person. Hopefully we will start getting mail soon! I'm so glad you got a phone call. I know how much that means.

Jean H, thanks for sharing your letter. I know you must be so proud!

Howdy, got my "kid in a box," "my form letter" which he actually put 2 lines on, and I got my first ever letter from my son in his almost 19 years of age! I got the letter yesterday!  He called home to let us know he is safe.

He is in Ship 02 - Div 917 PIR 3-11-11
