This website has been so helpful as we have navigated the process of our son enlisting in the Navy.  We just received our son's PIR letter yesterday, and he chose to invite 4 friends instead of his family.  We are absolutely heartbroken that after 18 years of investing in our son, supporting his decision to go NAVY, and walking thru 11 months of DEP with him, he would make such a hurtful choice.  My heart will be with you all on 3/11/11, even though I won't personally be there.   Ship 12 Div 097

We got a call from our son this morning - needed full address and said their PIR date had been changed. Sounds fine and hates the eggs!

I found our son in the garage one night under our jet skis ...with a flash light and blanket reading. He was in elementary school at the time. Scared the crap out of me when I couldn't find him. That wasn't the last time or the only place I found him reading when he was to be sleeping.

Momof4, we all have those nights when we can't sleep. Maybe he was just missing your recruit too. lol. He is definitely a persistent little thing isn't he. My son, who is now 28 used to do that too. He was about 18 months old and still sleeping in a crib. He figured out how to reach through the bars to his dresser. He would grad the knob on the drawer and pull his crib (on wheels) over to the dresser. Then he would stick his feet through the bars and climb out of the crib. The next morning we would find him with his little blanket sleeping in the floor of the closet lol. After about a week of this we took the crib out and put in the big boy bed lol.
