The reason that there is confusion is because the RDCs are telling the divisions they are gradngo;  as far as I can see, the members here are only repeating what they have been told.

Sometimes that FB page sounds a little snarky about Navy4Moms -- if you ask me.  MOO.

This was offically put out today on the U.S. Navy Recruit Training Command Facebook Page.

U.S. Navy Recruit Training Command Grad & Go refers to those recruits who are staying in Great Lakes and that is firm. We are in the process of correcting the RDCs who seem to believe that Grad & Go also refers to those recruits flying out of state on Saturday.

Even our trans...portation department no longer uses the term "Grad & Go." The confusion lies in the fact that a couple years recruits also flew out of state on Friday afternoons following the graduation ceremony. RTC stopped doing that a couple of years ago.

So, regardless if your recruit states he/she was told they are Grad & Go and are leaving Saturday, that is the incorrect term for them. They are a Saturday departure.

Other websites using the term Grad & Go for Saturday departures only add to the confusion.

So, once again, here is the official RTC definition as to what is a Grad & Go recruit: Recruits checking into A School at Great Lakes on the same day as graduation.

WE need to help RTC Out and post this every where we can, and help not add to the confusion!

Oh teresa, what you must be going through right now. I know this must be so hard and so confusing at the same time. When he calls again make sure you tell him to sign a waiver so that you can discuss his medical issues with the, and then maybe you can find out what is going on and what the next step he needs to take will be. I will keep my blue candle lit for you and your Sailor.

I am so sorry I haven't been on here very much in a few days. My Sailor was home for the weekend and my Mom was admitted to ICU with double pneumonia so I have been away from my computer a lot. I have you all in my thoughts and prayers. Congrats to all the New Sailors; have a great time at PIR and please travel safely. :-)

to answer the question if the Sailors get calls after the "I am a sailor call" they do.  Was in the kitchen cooking supper and the phone started ringing, almost didnt answer it but I picked up the phone and saw the 847 area code-it was grandson-they had given them a reward of a trip to the Nex and phone calls-said they had been stripping and waxing floors all week-looking forward to seeing him but not looking forward to the drive from Texas/La border to Waukegan-now that they have put snow back into the forecast-hope to see some of you there-dont know if we will be in time for the "Meet and Greet"

teresa:  I have never heard of that before!  Oh my gosh!  I will keep you all in my prayers.  Please post more info when you have it...after all he went through, even getting his Navy cap. Wow....maybe the medical issue will be something that he can resolve and re-enlist?  Although it seems that since he is a sailor now...he would not have to do bootcamp again?  I don't know...Prayers...and anxious to hear more about this....I'm so sorry!

GBsMom:  Yes, I saw that after I posted.  Maybe he got ill?  If he had not passed everything before BattleStations, they make them call home.  I sure hope that he went through last night!  Thanks!
