Chimelle- There is also a group on this site called ANSWER, they are a group of other family members and friends who make it their mission to write to these recruits. Please join that group and share the names and addresses with them. These future sailors love getting mail. They live for mail call. But I can imagine that mail call could be a very hard time for a recruit who knows no one will be writing to him or her.

My husband is in ship 03/ division 156 & he was the one that told me about this site. He said he's gotten closer to some other men there and they have told him about this site for me to come on and talk to other wives and mothers. So I'm just looking for other mothers/ wives in his division to talk to (:

ship 03/div 156    Got my phone call on my way home from work yesterday. I saw that 847 and got so excited! We talked probably 20 min or so. I was on cloud 9!! He said no worries. Food is great. Likes his bunk mate.So far so good!  And said mail is gold!!  My heart goes out to those that havent received calls yet.. will say prayer that you get a call soon.

received letter #2 today...short and sweet, asking for more pictures and prayers for the division (152)...

He also asked for news...so today when I wrote I told him that Liz Taylor died.

I'm not telling him much about world news, as it's all pretty depressing.  Besides, he's a NUKE.  Would rather have him focused on getting through BC than how much plutonium is in the soil in Japan....He'll catch up soon enough!

He thanked me for all the letters and said he has a little more time to write.

  That's about all!

Thanks, diannep. I didn't realize that. I just returned from buying 13 cards to send them. Also bought some bandaids to divide up between all the cards. It broke my heart to read that there were so many (11-one card is for B and another for a girl who we connected with in the March group) who either had little or no mail and support from home. He said some just needed extra encouragement.

Chimelle:  If you would like to share the mail-needy SRs names/addresses, you can do that by hitting the "Send Message to Group" prompt at the top of this page. That sends the names privately to each member here. Then any ladies on here who want to write to these SRs can do so.

My mailman come through today! I got an extremely long letter, It took a long time to read-mostly because of his microscopic writing. His spirits are up, he's excited about being there. He said they had a great laugh at each other after their haircuts. Lumpy heads, bald spots, places where the clippers missed. (I have always cut B's hair as I used to be a cosmetologist, so this was funny for him to mention)  He sent along some names of SRs who are in need of an encouraging word so I'm passing them along to our church friends so we can flood them with good thoughts. I need to go buy him some more stamps, too. He did say that they were sat down and told about Libya and Japan, so they are aware of some news.
