Just another thought to encourage you if your SR is ASMO'd: my son told me they have a guy in their division who joined them in their first week (he had been much further along). B said he was a great asset to them. So, if it happens, they can be in a position to encourage, mentor, and prepare the others for what's coming.

Thank you...... I hope I hear from my son this week by mail at least . I hope he receives at least one of the seven letters that have been mailed up there since last Friday . Praying that he's okay and moving forward.

Thank you Lala  I sorta was thinking the same thing but didn't want to jinx it. Yes that what I keep telling family and friends no news good news but as a mother its tough- trying to remain optimistic and counting days down regardless.

The good thing is that if they are set back they will call you to let you know asap. So if the test was on Friday chances are he passed it and all is well. As much as I hate that saying, no news is good news, it still holds true in most cases. Hang in there, I know it is so hard waiting and worrying and not knowing what is happening.

Well thats what I've been dong is waiting; since Fri. (that was the day the test was on he was so nervous about/I'm sure it was academic).Waiting for a phone call that PIR changed or he wants to quit...now waiting for a letter hopefully by Wed. and possibly the 3rd-4th week phone call.I know my son can do it and I agree 7 days for some encouragement from home is crazy but thats the rules.

From what I have heard from others the new division usually welcome them and are nice and try to help them through this. They all know that it could happen to them. I was also under the impression that they could talk to the Chaplin if they needed to, especially on Sundays. So hopefully he was able to talk to him yesterday. I hope you get a letter this week that is much better and more positive. I will keep you and your recruit in my thoughts and prayers :-)

I love my son but when he writes me and is so upset a letter back to him maybe reaching him in a week or more after he wrote his is not a way of handling this . If he is already feeling discouraged sitting alone and not being able to talk to anyone about it it's sad he was going to try to talk to the chaplain That again depends on how good he is that day and if they allow that. They need to break him down ha! That was every spouse that abuses their wife says he wants to mold her But their crimminals !   I am discouraged with this whole process but I am trying to keep a positive outlook for my son and hopefully sometime this week I can get my letters to him so he knows I here and I support him no matter what .

It is so hard on them when they get asmoed, they feel like they have let you down and are probably worried about money you have paid for the trip and the fees for changing it. They are unsure of what will happen next, will they fit in to the new division, will they pass the test that got them set back. And they have had their eye set on the PIR goal/date since the day they got there and even though a week or two is nothing in the grand skeem of life at this point it seems like a huge setback. If this happens to your recruit please let them know how much you support them and how proud you are of the job they are doing. If it is costing you extra money don't tell them. Do whatever you can to make them feel better. They will get through this and so will you :-) In some cases it turns out to be a blessing in disguise. If it is for a medical reason tell them when they call to sign a paper giving those in charge permission to discuss it with you. Otherwise they won't tell you anything.

I don't know what happens when they get asmoed what they go through I mean as communication has no priority in the NAVY My son was asmoed for failing a test passed everything but failed an academic  test and was placed back one week he went from being a happy completely content recruit who call it a minor setback and he get through it on his call to me ....To want to come home can't take being asmoed so I don't know what they have to face maybe being put down or call out on it I can only imagine but until I can talk to him or my letters reach him I can only pray that he's okay ! Yes you will feel completely helpless but hopefully you will have friends that can help lift you. Believe me you are no

alone. Just watch as some peoples comments can be cruel as they do not know  and don't think before they speak or write . Let it go ! Good luck !

Thanks for all the info I don't care if my son gets asmoed  I just don't want him to get discouraged and feel like a failure. I'm sending him lots of encouraging letters, prayers etc. but other than that I feel helpless.I need to hear his voice to know hes ok
