Where do you get the information with respect to the A school they will be going to? I haven't heard from my son and I am feeling the same as oneluvdmom.

Sorry if I confused anyone! I was just going by what the RTC posted on their facebook page....SO glad people are starting to get letters! I'm just still really confused about how it works with sailors that got there later than others...Since my husband got there on the 7th today is only the start of his 3rd week...do you think they now like on the same testing schedule as everyone else or how does that work? I just really would like to know what he is doing right now and when I can expect letters/ calls!

marylieu...it is my fiance and absolutely...

i am not sure about when "mail call" is...i just know that they have finally received some letters...bryan said they feed them pretty good...i know he has cheddar and broccoli soup...He has had grilled chicken too... i cannot remember all of the sides he had with it...he did joke that maybe by the time I see him he will have a butt... they are having some tests this week...he passed his swim test as well as some other test... i will add more as soon as i can get a chance to look at all of the letters again

My son's beautiful girlfriend lives with us, she has been a blessing, and a comfort,so I know for sure there are no letters as yet.

I think the girlfriends are getting way more letters than the Mom's.... That's OK, I guess:)

Pearl, thank you so much for sharing your receipt of letters with us, it is a comforting feeling.  If I could impose, could you share one of the experiences that you son has had....how are the meals, are they allowed outside at all, and is "mail call" only on Sunday?  I don't mean to impose, but as you can tell, I would be satisfied with any little tidbit....thanks so much.

I received more letters today.  3/11 through 3/15...He passed his swim test and one other too... I am at work so I do not have the letters in front of me... I do know at some point he received 8 of my letters.  Today I sent letter 22 out, so hopefully he is getting the rest of my letters.  I know he said he was on a "natural high" from receiving the letters, so lets keep those letters coming.

I am so happy for you meme...you must feel so much bettter!!!   Thank you to Diannep and Lala for trying to clear up some of the terms for us new to this experience.  I have been writing my son asking him if he is a Grad and Go...now I am realizing that this info will still be ambiguous.  So thanks for making it clear that we have to be more clear with our sons/daughters.

oneluvdmom..hugs to you as well.  I too, am having a very very difficult time with having no communication whatsoever.  Its so great to know that there are people like you to talk to, that are going through this as well.  Hopefully we will receive a letter soon...

To add to what Diannep said, not all sailors are either grad n go or Saturday departure, the majority of them don't leave Great Lakes until the week after PIR, usually between Monday and Wednesday. They get to spend the remainder of PIR day with you as well as all day Saturday and all day Sunday (unless they have a short watch)
