I am really really lonely for my boy.....The mania has passed, & with the news that he probably will be a gradNgo the Saturday after PIR, has my heart REALLY heavy.  I thought I cut the cord, but think it was denial.  I'm not laying in bed sucking my thumb, but sometimes it feels like I want to.  38 days & counting!

One more quick comment....I was so happy to actually see the countdown days change from 40 to 39.

I love all the great info here. Thank you JessicaB for the info about the head count for the Meet and Greet at the Ramada, we will be staying there.  I, too, think that my son will call tonight and will not leave the house.  But, now that I see all the comments, I am feeling that it is not going to happen.  Okay, then another day of mail carrier stalking tomorrow....good wishes to all...ship 12...div 154

Well, I'm, sure it will work out, Pearl.  Good luck and many blessings!

thanks dianne... mississippi has a 3 day waiting period for the license...not sure when I would be able to see Bryan, but I have 4 children that I need to try and stay home with, so I was not planning on going to mississippi while he was there...have to watch all the spending for traveling...also i have an ex who would flip if he had to take more time off to be with his kids so I could go somewhere... I have been doing a lot of research...came across a girl on navyformoms who got married on liberty in january...from what it looks like it is frowned upon but can be done...another girl said they got married but waited to show the marriage license until he got to A-school. I hate planning weddings...grrr

Ooops...just read the part where you said you had already posted on the wives, gfs, etc group.  I hope that they can give you more info.

Pearl:  I have heard that the sailors are not to get married PIR weekend...so your SR needs to ask about that on RTC.  I think they must have "special" situations to be granted permission....one I heard about was a medical condition of the future bride.

If you decide to marry while he is in MS, I have heard that there is a longer waiting period down there (maybe 3 weeks?  Not sure as this was a while ago)for the license...and if he is in a short-term A School, you may not have the license before he leaves.  Check on one of the Navy wives groups on here or the girflfriends, fiances, wives groups to see if some on there can help you a bit more.

I should add, R'sproudmom, that we didn't stay at the Ramada.  We were at the Residence Inn.

R'sproudmom: My son's group had the same number of divisions as this one has-9. We were on the 6:30 shuttle, zipped past the line of cars waiting to get in, and were in the PIR hall by a few minutes after 7.  The walk is not bad at all.  Others took their cars and loved that too.  We met the shuttles at the front gate after PIR (probably about an hour after it was over) and zipped right back to the hotel, our sailor with us.  My friend who had gone a yr earlier told me to do the shuttle for sure...it was early Feb (Jan for her) and we wanted to be there quickly....brrrrrr!  Her shuttle experience was great also.

hey everyone... i placed this on the girlfriend, fiance, and wives group, but wanted to post it here too for some feedback... i have been finding and hearing conflicting information

My fiance is graduating 4/29.... i have been trying to plan a wedding and had been talking to someone else about getting married while my fiance is in a school in mississippi...she accidentally replied with the state illinois and it got me to thinking about getting married while we are there...was wondering if anyone had any feedback..l went and checked out illinois guidelines for obtaining a marriage license...looks like they have a 24-hour waiting period...not sure if that can be waived... i know some states will allow that and then we could maybe just get married while we are there, but if that is not the case we would be able to get married on Saturday...wondering if the military base would let us use the chapel or if we would have to find someone to marry us.

any feedback would be greatly appreciated...
