Is there information about the meet and greet yet. I am staying at the Homewood Suites, so not sure where that is in comparison to the Ramada...thank goodness for GPS's...would love to meet everyone here... I will be arriving sometime on Thursday..will need a little time to sleep, after an 11 1/2 hour drive but then should be good to go.
Oh, ok. That makes sense. Sorry about that!
Since he arrived on the 1st, then they should be in training days. Sometimes they can call back a second time if no one answers...depending on how many are calling and how much time they have. When the RDCs tell them to get off the phones, they have to hang up immediately! You may hear them in the background when your SR calls. Hopefully you will be available when he calls...and just maybe it will be today! Hoping it is!
R'sproudmom: Actually, if he left on 3/11 for bootcamp, he just arrived 10 days ago. Not likely that he will call today...still a bit early...but you never know. Calls are not always made on Sundays...My son, when at bootcamp, called on weekdays and on Saturdays and Sundays with the few calls he made. So you must be ready at any time (cell phone with you even in the bathroom and when getting the mail!). But unless he needs info required by the Navy, in which case he would make a "supervised" (by Navy personnel) call to you for that info, I think the calls will not come for a couple of more weeks. I'm thinking that this PIR group may be allowed to write letters today (they can usually write on Sundays---once they have been there for a couple of weeks, sometimes less) so hoping this will be a good week for all of you in getting letters! Just to let you know...they have to train the recruit designated to handle the mail for the division, and mail delivery cannot start until after he/she is trained.
Also, R'sproudmom: Know that bootcamp is such an emotional experience...up and down...for all of the ladies on here. Stay connected here now because these ladies will help you, and you in turn can help them. It is like free counseling! :-) I am a veteran mom (son graduated over a yr ago) along with Lala, janlee, Jessica, and Betsy....and others who drop in with great advice...so we are here to answer questions and help in any way that we can.
The Navy's motto: Hurry up and wait!
So better get used to it! Just know that your SR is safe, being well cared for, mentored, and is in the process of becoming a sailor. Not sure if they have actually started training yet...but if not by now, it will be soon. They could still be in Processing Days.
Pearl, from the dates you gave, sounds like he was still in Processing Days that first week of March (seems he gave you dates, not training day numbers). But from what Dayciavu said (same division), they started their actual "bootcamp" training on March 14th. Last Monday. So this Monday, they should be starting their 2nd week of training (therefore, 2-1 (Week 2, Day 1).
If you just go to your calendar, you can write the numbers there, starting on the 14th with 1-1, the 15th 1-2, the 16th 1-3, the 17th 1-4, and the 18th 1-5. Then just repeat it for this coming week starting with Monday, but put in 2-1, 2-2, 2-3, etc. That way, all you have do to is look at your calendar to know what week/day he is on in his training. Confusing, I know...but maybe if you write it on the calendar, it will make more sense!
