Congrats to everyone who got a letter!! My husbands PIR is 4/29, but he was one of the late ones to arrive at Bc, on 3/7, is there any chance I would be able to expect a letter this soon?

cmom! so exciting! i've been so excited to check the mail every day. I haven't gotten a letter yet. My husband got to GL 3/2 and we live in Virginia. I'm sure i'll get one soon then :)

WOO - HOO!!

GOT MY FIRST LETTER TODAY!!

SR left 3/2 ship3/div150 - I just posted what most of it said in that discussion.

It just made my WEEK!  It was short but sweet!!

I couldn't tell what day it was actually mailed - so I don't know how long it took to get here - but shouldn't have taken too long as I am in Southern Indiana!

The day your letters will arrive has a lot to do with where you live. I am in NC and my letter day was Thursday. A friend of mine was in Southern FL and her day was Friday. I believe the majority of people get them on Wednesday and Thursdays. So tomorrow may be a very good day for some of you. After they reach week 4 of training many of the RDC's allow them to write 2 or 3 days a week. So you may get letters on Tuesday and Thursday like we did the last couple of weeks. :)

that all is extremely good to hear! ive been wanting to send him letters everyday because it feels like im still talking to him when i send one out so im definitely going to start doing that! i feel alot better now cause i didnt wanna make things harder on him because he does have a big family and he will be recieving alot of letters as it is, but now knowing that after a little while he will be able to get them every single day just makes my day!

B left 3/2. They get mail everyday except Sunday, so keep writing. It takes a few weeks to train the mail person, so they apparently don't get mail until they're trained. After that they get it all the time. I think their time to write home is limited. B said he was trained and started working the mail last week.

...some are able to write under the "red" light glow from lights that are on after "lights out."  Others may be too tired and just want to sleep....
Comment by diannep on March 16, 2011 at 1:44pm
navygirlfriend:  They normally can't write for the first 2 weeks...although occasionally an RDC will allow them to write earlier if the mail recruit is trained.  The mail is held from them for the first 2 weeks....but I would be writing him as much as you can.  I have never heard of a SR overwhelmed by too much mail...they love it and live for it!  He probably won't be receiving any of it until maybe this weekend.  They can write on Sunday in the beginning, but can write/mail out other days as bootcamp progresses (but it is up to the RDCs).
