Hello All!..  Mom of a recruit in ship 3 div 156 here. I too have been experiencing roller coaster emotions. Received the form letter yesterday with a short message from my son at the bottom. This was sure nice to see. Am grateful for this website. A lot of valuable information.

Brittany....900 divisions can have musical talent, marching, drill, or other leadership abilities that qualified them to be in the 900 division.  They also function behind the scenes at PIRs and as well as in visible positions at PIRs...performing at PIRs ...also as body snatchers (watching for those sailors who may be about to pass out at PIR), etc.  So they are a group of many talents!

My husband is in division 924 Ship 2. He left on 3/1/11. He is expected to graduate on 4/29/11. I was trying to figure out what division 924 meant? I thought I saw something where there loved one was in 900 division had a musical talent. My husband is not musical at all...lol. I just wondered if anyone knew what that meant? I can't wait until 4/29!!

Oh, forgot about that, PC Mom.  I remember now that you had mentioned you would drive.  They get a chance to "update" their list a couple of weeks before PIR...so if he didn't put your son on there (I bet he did~), then he can add him then.

Well from the ladies that used to be in this group until they found out they got PIR on 4/22, Their sons were placed in what's called a "push division"

Sherri(the creator of this group) her son arrived literally within minutes of when my boyfriend arrived, but she is going a week before me.

Her son was placed in a "push division" and trust me I really find it unfair for me, but what they do is they only have 7 weeks but they are expected to do things at a faster pace than those with the normal 8 weeks. They have to memorize things quicker, and have less time to adjust to the workouts and such.

So those of you whose SR's left 3/7, you might(not sure) be in a push division.

I'm throwing a fit that my SR didn't get to do that, but that's how they do things and we just gotta deal with it ha!

hope this helps to explain :)

My boyfriend left home on 2/22, got to Great Lakes late on 2/24 and has his PIR set for 4/29. He must be one of the lucky few who get an extra long time at boot camp!

PC Mom:  Hopefully they will post this group on the RTC grad page on Monday.  From what Carrie posted below, you know you are definitely in this group!  Don't know if Southwest flies from Montgomery (if that is where you are flying from) or if you will drive to Atlanta, but they have no charge for changing flights, plus free 1 or 2 bags checked.  Also, you can fly into Milwaukee which is cheaper and only about 10 minute longer drive (straight interstate) to GL. With no Chicago traffic!  You may want to check it out!

They arrive at bootcamp pretty much every weekday. I don't think any arrive on weekend. There are usually 7 to 14 divisions to fill up and some recruits will be in the first division to fill up and have more P-days than those who arrive a few days later and may be in the last division to fill up. It may not seem fair that some are there longer than others but there is no way that every recruit (often over 1000) for one PIR date could begin on the same day. It just wouldn't be possible. Also, those divisions who are the first and fill up the quickest are usually the first to begin actual training and the first to go through battlestations so they have a few more "easy" days their last week there after they become Sailors.
