finally home to TN...we drove past flooding in Cape Girardeau and parts of eastern Arkansas.  What a mess!  Hope you are all home safe.  Crazy, busy weekend.  Our son looked tired and was sick but good.  He enjoyed every minute of liberty.  His group had to be at the airport (MDW) at about 0130 so we pulled an all-nighter and met him there with his laptop, cell phone, etc.    His was the FIRST flight to leave at 0600 for ATL, then on to A school.  I got to meet oneluvdmom (DIV151) at the airport.  Her son is a nuke, too!  :)  Only down side was getting lost in downtown Chicago at 0100 before we found the airport.  His (girl) friend was with me, so at lease I was in good company.  Congrats to all of you, and thank you for helping me through the last 9 weeks!

Best wishes as you all start another adventure with your sailors going through A school!   HUGS,

Hi everyone!  Just got back from visiting J at graduation and the airport.  It was a whirlwind weekend for sure.  Got to meet Chimelle, her family and son who was also in my son J's division 149.  The ceremony was awesome as 149 were the first marching feet thru the door.  Met J's funny bunkmate and we hung out with him since J's flight left at noon on Sat and his did not leave till 3 pm for LA. J and X told us all the funniest stories about boot camp, we were laughing so hard at some of them.  I was there with my younger son (also a J) and my son's girlfriend.  The kiss goodbye with the GF brought tears to my eyes.  J says he is doing the hurry up and wait, while his A school AE classes up.  It said it could be as long as 2 months to wait for school to start.  Meanwhile he is enjoying having free time from 4 pm to midnight.  He does not know is roomie (not someone from boot camp) and said all the Div 149 sailors are across the base in another building. In spite of him saying boot camp was the worst 8 weeks of his life, I think the funny stories kept them happy.  His chief sounded like a hoot.

NavyMom4J, did you go to the Gurnee Mall while there? Your son looks like the SR my son spoke with at the Verizon kiosk there. My husband was in uniform standing with us.

I wish I had been able to meet all of you who kept me sane during the 8 wks of boot camp! Thankfully, I did meet CMom and her SR but time did not permit us to meet others.

I saw a sailor with a blonde girl. I almost cried when I watched them kiss good-bye. It was touching, thinking about not seeing the one you love indefinitely. I also saw one of them holding his little girl.

I joined this group for Pensacola, as well as a group for B's rate.

Chimelle- i don't know how we missed each other-I had my white scarf on too- but that was a crazy zoo after liberty call! It took me  awhile to finally find him!  I don't know! anyway- your sailor is awesome and they are both in Pensacola- J said he is rooming with one other from his Division and a new one. There were about 40 of them all going to Pensacola that morning on the same 11:30 flight. I got a gate pass and was gong through the security when my ride came, so had to leave him there before he went through security- so that is probably why as I could not go to the gate, but he had his girlfriend with him. You might remember  seeing a sailor with a blond girlfriend? Anyway I could not keep the tears at bay...I think we can join a Pensacola group now on this site. Do not know how to get one going for our sailors though.  I could not have coped either without this site either!

We are finally home. Very tired but so glad we went. It's a relief to be able to communicate with my son again. One day (plus the airport time) just wasn't enough time but I'll take it. I don't know how I would have coped without this site.

NavyMom4J-How did we miss each other?????  lol  We had to have been in the same places at the same time. Hanging out at the airport was great. We left just before they boarded. I could feel the tears coming and didn't want to leave him like that so we walked away as they were getting in line.

That was the best experience of my life and my sailors!  What a woman she has turned into.  I knew she had it in her, but man, the Navy did in short 8 weeks what I had been trying to do for 19 years!!!

She is in San Antonio now in HM A school, and I guess the dorms are new.  She has one room mate (from her Div) and they each have their own vanity sink, bed, desk and walk in closet.  They share a toilet and shower with the room next door.  And they have a full size fridge and microwave in their room.

She feels like she is living in luxury after the past 8 weeks.  It is so nice to be able to talk to her.  I know you all feel the same way.

I have appreciated having this forum these past 8 weeks, it made me sane, thanks everyone for supporting each other. I wish your sailors the best in their next phases, and hope our paths cross again

Kathy
