So...when can we print our gate passes?? Ooo I am getting so excited!

But on a disappointing note..my 21 yr old niece that just arrived in GL is being medically discharged, they have discovered that she has a very serious cataract in her right eye. :(  She will be going home at the same time we will be out there for PIR! I wonder if we could pick her up and drive back to Colorado with us? Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers! She is very low right now, She had finally found her niche. But after she has surgery and recovers she will be eligible to rejoin!! Please pray for healing, strength while she is in holding and a total recovery!!

I LOVE the base NEX!  All I remember of the RTC NEX are a couple racks of tshirts, a bit of jewelry and bumper stickers, and lots of recruit supplies.  It wasn't very big, but there's been so much remodeling since we were there, I just don't know what it's like.  The base NEX is the way to go!
Comment by diannep on April 30, 2011 at 10:05am
Ruth, as I told some of the ladies before, it might be better to shop the NEX on the base side. Bigger and not so crowded.  I know that many have told me that the RTC NEX is very crowded after PIR...so unless you have to go in there to pay for piks, you all may want to opt for the other NEX.
Comment by Ruth, Gun's Mom on April 30, 2011 at 9:51am
Yes, you can shop, but you have to have your sailor (or a sailor) with an ID to pay for things.  I always bring cash so I can give it to my son to pay for things. I can't give him my debit or credit card since it has to be in his name, not mine.
Comment by mapes on April 30, 2011 at 9:39am
Are we able to shop at the NEX? I thought you had to have military ID?
