What week are they in now? There is a list saying what they are doing and when. Since my daughter is new to the division, I have no clue how far along they are.

Okay, at the risk of sounding really dumb....I'm not familiar with the blue star flag.  Where can I purchase one?

You light the blue candle starting at 8pm on the night of their Battlestations and keep it burning all night for good luck

I dont light candles so I will be off to the craft store for the battery operated ones. Hopefully they will also have a blue light. If not then I will get an electric one or something.

tks4:....the blue candle is usually lit when divisions are going through BattleStations.  Some ladies light it for ALL of the nights of BattleStations: others just when their SR's division goes through.  Just please be SAFE with your candle.  I know of some who got electric blue candles just to make sure they didn't burn down the house!  :-)

Kelly in Katy:  Comfy shoes are highly recommended because you may do a good bit of walking that day.  For those who want to wear heels, I suggest that you wear comfortable shoes and then put the heels on inside the PIR Hall.

1ProudMomma:  It is the bluestar flag. It is displayed usually on the front of a home (in a window) indicating that a resident of that house is in active military.  It is not supposed to be displayed until your SR is actually a sailor.

The blue candles are also used when sailors are deployed.  It is a sign that they are being thought of and prayed for.

Comment by 1ProudMomma on April 27, 2011 at 1:08pm

My understanding of the blue candle is that you light it (and say prayers) while your SR is going through their battlestations.  I don't know if there is more to this or not,...that is why I was asking.

I'm buying a blue candle for the Grandparents to light as well.  Can't hurt. ha ha.
