here4kids:  She may have been making a "supervised" call with navy personnel close by if she was calling for phone numbers and addresses (I'm assuming for clearance info).  That makes th SRs a bit nervous...and they can't really say what they want to.  She is still in the "overwhelmed" stage, but don't worry...this is the tough time but they get through it!

bllz:  Can you add the divisions that Jessica listed in your PIR group to the title of your group?  After PIR 6/10/11.

We usually suggest you get a phone card with at least 500 minutes on it, activate it, and mail it to them.  Like Lala said, they can buy these at the NEX also. You can mail paper/envelopes/stamps a little at a time in each letter you send (i.e., a self-addressed stamped envelope/paper folded up in each letter you mail) or in a larger envelope where you can mail all at once.

Gabby...I heard they won't be able to receive mail or write for a couple of weeks. Each DIV has to train a "mail person." So I believe it depends on that. But, your SR will be able to go to the NEX to get a phone card. So don't worry...if your SR has the chance to call they will be able to:)

You can send stamps and even self-addressed stamped envelopes. If you do that it will save them time and they can spend more time writing instead of addressing envelopes lol. You can also send a phone card, activate it before you send it. They can buy them at the next but if they haven't been given permission to go there or buy a phone card they could miss making a call. Get a phone card with plenty of minutes. They use up a lot of time (35 min) for every call that is made. busy signal, voice mail, lost connection, every call another 35 min used.
