Patrat: Had to laugh at your post...because we have all "been there"! Sometimes it IS our SRs, sometimes not. I even printed piks of who I thought was my SR when he was at bootcamp. His response? NO, Mom. That is NOT me.
Well, they look alike with their shaved heads and matching outfits/hats sometimes, right? Hope you are right and you really have spotted your SR!
Welcome, lo !
My son was the first in our family (since my Dad's Army Air Corps enlistment during WW2) to go into the military also. My son has now been honorably discharged, but I learned so much from this site during his enlistment...and have decided to stay on to help with the PIR groups since I have been doing that for about 2.5 yrs now.
Please read through the discussions in the Forum above for lots of info. Then, if you have questions, post them here. We are glad to help!
My brother is Ship 02, Div 936. I believe I am in the right spot and that his PIR date is July 20th.
Our mom passed away 10 years ago and many times have I stepped in and filled her shoes. I am so pleased to have found navyformoms because I am so new to military life, my brother is the first in our family to have enlisted.
I'm sure I may end up with many questions before this journey is over!
Patrat, let yourself believe it is him :-) Know that he is doing well and everyday that passes is more more day closer to seeing him at PIR!!!!
Ok, so I just saw a picture on the Navy Recruit Training Commmand facebook page. One of the pictures looks like it could be my son. But it's hard to tell cause you can only see part of his face. The more I look at it, the more I think it's him, or it's just that I would like it to be him!
my fingers are crossed for you guys. I hope it gets better for your recruits and for you very soon :-)
For anyone on this site who has a LinkedIn account. I saw on the news today that their member info was hacked and passwords and other info compromised. They said if you have a LinkedIn account you should change your password immediately. Just thought I would share because I know many of you are on that site.
Oh No! jeffsMum! I was really bummed yesterday when my son called and only could ask for his acct. no. My husband had answered the phone, so I didn't even get to hear his voice. Now I'm not so sure that I want a letter. I'm going to believe that things for your son will get better! Hand in there! And remember to tell me that when I get that first letter :)
Some friends and I have started a group on facebook that is private. You can come to our group and we will be there to answer questions when you need us and you can post comments and meet other friends there who also have recruits at bootcamp. I am trying to figure out if you have to be a facebook friend of mine in order to join the group. So if anyone would like to join this group whether you have a recruit in bootcamp or you are a mom who has been through it already and would to help let me know. try this link and see if it will let you request to join. If not let me know on here and I will add you as a friend on facebook to get you into the group. https://www.facebook.com/groups/327167160695549/ I hope it works :-)
lol, that reminds me of my son and daughter when she was at bootcamp. he always wanted to be in the Coast Guard since he was really young and he would draw pictures of a Navy ship sinking and her out in the water with a life ring and he would come to rescue her on a Coast guard Cutter lol. Of course she would have some picture to send back to him and they went back and forth like that the whole time she was in bootcamp.
