He said that boot camp has not been too bad :) he said he has come to realize that sleep really is a luxury lol. He has only gotten about 4 hrs of sleep each night. The first night he was there they were not allowed to sleep, so he hadn't slept in 48 hours. He said that he thinks about me constantly. No matter what he is doing, I am always on his mind. He also wrote the Lord's Prayer for the Military Wife. Even thought I am not his wife yet, he said it was really touching. He asked me to pray that prayer every night and every night he prays it for me. :)
Sailor's Sweetheart! Yippee!
Dianne, that's fabulous!
juliebelle, yes Hawaii is pretty nice, especially since his gf's mom got to visit them there last Sept. :)
Betsy: He says he has either 5/6 semesters left and he will have his Bachelors. Fingers crossed! Has his A.S. already.
I received my first letter from my sailor today!!! :)
juliebelle, yes he is a nuke. He is assigned to the USS Key West, based out of Pearl Harbor. His sub in drydock now, so he hasn't been out for over a year now, but he did like it when they were out. He's almost finished his 6 years, so for the last few months he has been looking forward to the non Navy life.
I've been out to CA a few times, but each time was San Diego and Coronado, which I love. Although this past March my sailor and I did drive through the northern part on his way out to his base in WA. It was beautiful out there and I did tell my husband that those 2 parks are on my bucket list.
juliebelle, Oh, you lucky duck! I would love to go there. I bet you can't wait. Btw, my future son in law is also an ET. :)
Dianne, I'm so glad to hear your son is back in school. Woohoo!
My future son in law will be ending his stint in the Navy in August and has enrolled at the Univ. of Colorado. He can't wait to get started again in school. I agree that it's such a great opportunity for them and Ben probably could never have afforded to go to school there if it weren't for the GI bill.
The Navy is such a huge opportunity for them to gain structure, grow up some, learn to make good decisions. My son has now been honorably discharged, but he told me he will always be grateful for the Navy and what it taught him. And he said he would always be proud to say that he had served his country.
With college educations so expensive now, it is hard when they turn down scholarships, but....like you all said, they have to be happy in what they are pursuing. Good thing is...they will have the GI Bill to continue their education after the Navy...my son just started using his this week. Wheeewww!
Patrat, Ugh! ((hugs)) But I would hold on to the thought that at least you know that everything seems to be going well for him.
Ok, So I just walked in the door, and my daughter says that her brother is on the phone with my husband, so I run into the familyroom thinking that I'm going to get to talk with him and instead I get SHHHHHH! He had to call to get is bank acct. number and that's all he could do. So I didn't get to talk with him :(
