Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Make sure to read our Community Guidelines and this Navy Operations Security (OPSEC) checklist - loose lips sink ships!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

My daughter's fiance's mom stopped speaking to him before he went to BC because she thought he was making a big mistake by joining the Navy. He told me that while he was in BC, she did not write to him, even once. (I still wish we had known him then, I would have made sure that he got many letters from us). I really hope that your son and husband do reconcile. I can imagine how much pain your husband must be going through too.

My daughter had a $117,000.00 scholarship to a private college, full ride, pre-med and hated it so she quit after 2 years and joined the Navy. I was so upset with her and begged her to finish school first then go in as an officer but she was determined. Although I begged her to finish school I still supported her decision and she has never regretted it.

I would imagine that initially, you all had "mixed feelings" when he told you he was enlisting rather than going to college? But so wonderful that you all supported him in his choice and he knew it was the way to go. I'm sure he will be a tremendous asset in his NUKE position to the Navy!

I want it for him, I want him to do what he wants to do. But at the same time, not so much. My feelings about it get all jumbled up inside of me. And really, he is not like most males, doesn't have a typical teenagers attitude, every teacher in the school loved him and I just don't want that to change. But no matter what he decides to do I will support him 100%

And I agree, start the Army for moms website :-)
