navyknit:  Ready to change out that silhouette pik at the top of the page?  And maybe also add a pik as your personal profile pik?  You can put any pik you want in either.  You may want to "google" NAVY PICTURES and find some that you like.  Just "save" them and you can download them into the picture spaces!  It will personalize your page!

Got my hubby's form letter yesterday.  Ship 7 Div 221, PIR 7/20.  Anyone have an SR there?

Also, I joined a facebook page and one of the moms posted about this - you can get free phone cards for your recruit,  My SR took one with him, but I'm going to send him one to give to someone in his div that doesn't have one.  It sounds like you all are behind your sailor 100%, but there are some recruits who get no mail.  I volunteered to write letters to letter-less recruits.  It just breaks my heart to think of these men and women with no support behind them going through this incredibly trying time.  I know, I'm a sap, but I'm ok with that.  : )

Yay on Form Letters!

Make sure you keep your Form Letter in a safe place. It has the Confidential Password (never give this out) for the Vehicle Gate Pass for PIR. If you plan on driving onto RTC or TSC GL for those whose future Sailor will have A school there, you will need this pass in order to drive your vehicle onto the bases. If you are taking taxi's then it is not necessary. Taxi's do enter the base either though and drop off outside the gates. There are shuttle services from most hotels for PIR for a modest fee.

PIR=Pass-in-Review

RTC=Recruit Training Command...where your SR's are at.

TSC GL= Training Support Center Great Lakes

SR=Seaman Recruit

Mine was 22 when he went in...but looked a lot younger!

..."grandpa" that's funny. They may get some ribbing...they ALL do. I think it's required in the Military!! LOL I know it has always been that way for all the years I have been an AF wife...sheesh! LOL

Comment by Savvy1987 on May 31, 2012 at 5:13pm

navyknit,
I'm glad to know someone else who has a loves one in his division and to also know he is older, my fiance is 25 and was scared they were all gonna be mush younger then him. Good to know there is someone whom is close to his age, I'm sure if they are near each other it will make him feel better, he was scared they were all gonna call him grandpa.

Just posted on the BC page that I got the form letter today.  PIR 7/20 as you predicted.  Go Navy!

Next phone call usually comes in around 3rd week of bootcamp, but calls can come at any time, especially "need info" calls, so phones always handy!

Savvy:  As Betsy said, start writing the letters now.  Do you have the address from the recruiter?  I'll post it here.   BUT...be sure to check the form letter address and make sure it is the same...once you receive it.  Sometimes the recruiter's addresses are a bit different...they get them from the computer and sometimes they are changed.  They will make every effort to get the letters to your SRs (mail is held for 2 weeks anyway until the Recruit Mail Petty Officer is trained...so no hurry).

We like to recommend that you wait for the form letter address...just in case.  But here is the Ship 07 address in case you want to write now.:

SR Last Name, First Name Middle initial

Ship 07, Div 222

3405 Sailor Drive

Great Lakes IL  60088
