Hi, does anyone know how far sarges meet n greet is from the naval station?
I plan on stopping in, i wont get there til later cuz our flight doesnt land til 638pm
thanks Fancy Nancy for your support and helpful tips and congratulations on your new Sailor!
Hi there family and friends of TG 36!
I want to wish all of you the best as you make your final preparations for PIR. Aren't you ecstatic to see the numbers on your countdown! I took a picture of our countdown when we were down to 1 day and whatever just as a keepsake for my memory book!
My sailor's PIR was just this past Friday (7-13) and it was amazing! Everything the veteran moms have told you are so right. If you can work it into your schedule, go to Sarge's Meet and Greet. It is a wonderful activity for PIR eve. He is very informative and you get to meet some of your friends from N4Ms.
We stayed at the Days Inn. It was ok..not yucky in any way but nothing was $6 per person round trip. It saved tons of time waiting in extremely long lines of traffic. If your hotel offers shuttle service, do it!
The PIR hall was very cool (temperature wise) when we first went in but as it filled up, it was quite comfortable. The ceremony was breathtaking and as those drum beat and the divisions marched in, I felt nothing but absolute pride and joy!
So, here's to you and your new sailors. On behalf of the amazing people in TG35 I grew so fond of during boot camp, congratulations on a job well done. You did it!
Meegan: As it turned out, 221/222 went through when they were supposed to...on Thurs night, finishing Fri morning. But they weren't allowed to call until yesterday because of weather problems. Not sure if one division or three will go tonight....we will see who calls tomorrow! But I feel sure "someone" will go tonight.
I know all of us are praying for you, Meegan, as you enjoy your weekend with your sailor and then have to share your sad news at the end. I have no doubt that the Lord will give you the words you need to say, and hope there are lots of hugs and conversation. Maybe it will help him to be able to say: Mom, remember when he and I did this? etc.....I know when my hubby died suddenly, I had the need to share stories and talk about him...everyone is different, I know....but hoping it is a very special time between you that starts the healing process.
meegan - Your mention of lighting the blue candles made be laugh because when I had my son's going away party, I of course had to find whatever I could that was Navy blue or sailor related. (Yes, my son thought I was nuts!) I found these little tea light candles with anchors on them that run on batteries (just too cute) I put them on a shelf in the bathroom for the party and they have been there ever since. I can't wait till get our call!!! We are flying out Thursday morning as well. I am confident that you will have help from a higher power to get you through what you need to tell your son, and he will understand why you waited. Looking forward to meeting you at PIR!!
I am so excited for all of 221/22 My son is 223 (as you all probably know) and I can't wait to get the call. I am flying in on Thursday so hopefully i hear before. Do you think they have pushed it up? If 221/222 went Sunday (?) then could 223/224 go tonight? I want to light my blue candles and light up the sky. I did not light them last night b/c I thought they were going tonight. I think from here forward it will be everynight so I do not miss any more divisions. THANK YOU everyone for the heads up on them being able to get on computers. I had a long talk with my son on the phone on Saturday and I asked him to stay off the FB and he agreed BUT that does not matter anyomore b/c I successfully hacked his FB on Friday night with help of my best friend (amazing what you can do when you feel like you don;t have a choice) , we were able to get on and change his password. I feel bad but it had to be done. Now I get to compile my words and tell him the right way. Thank you so much to all of you that gave me a heads up. Cant wait to meat some of you at PIR!!
Leaving tomorrow for Friday graduation!!!! Flying into Milwaukee, hanging out there and Chicago - can't wait to see my girl!
Yes, Lala. That's what is strange. They use to go on Sunday nights alot...back when I first started keeping schedules in 2010. Even some in 2011. But haven't done it as much in 2012. I was looking over my lists recently of the PIR schedules and just doesn't happen often. But it can change again! :-)
Good Morning everyone :)
