Hello everyone, I just got back to town on Wednesday and was sad to leave my Sailor behind but I have got to be thankful for communication. I hear something even if it is just a quick text message every day. I miss him so much and am so happy for him. He is doing well and seems to be very happy. He is staying in the great lakes for A-school and I hope to be able to fly back for a long weekend in September. Congrats to you all for raising such amazing kids and for all you wives and gf's for being supportive :)

PIR 07202012 Div 223  Div 223a   here are a couple of close-up pics I took.  I was able to brighten them up with my photo editor.  They came out ok.  Hope you see your sailor.  My son is carrying a flag with glasses on.  We forgot to bring his contacts for A school - he can't wait to wear them agin.  I've got to get them in the mail.  he just called an gave me is A School address finally.

For those Colorado moms from PIR 7/20, I just found a Colorado Moms group about on page 6 or 7 of the ALL GROUPS page.  Just in case you want to add this to your groups.  Might be nice to reach out to those folks in the future.

DIANNEP - what's the link to the PIR groups in August?  Probably too late to pass along tips to parents going to PIR in 12 hours.  I posted too late this week with travel and was too busy getting back to the JOB and all.

Julie:  Rather than get off groups if you don't want to, go to your SETTINGS (top right corner of your page), then click EMAILS....and select which ones you want to receive emails from.  Most of us N4Moms veterans have disabled most email notifications on the main boards because they become overwhelming.  We just check the posts on the pages when we can.

The other groups are PIR 08/10/2012, PIR 08/17/2012, PIR 08/24/2012, PIR 08/31/2012, PIR 09/07/2012

Yes - so sad its over.  We did so much.  Went to Lou Malnatis Friday, Shedd Aquarium Saturday, Backyard Steakpit Saturday evening, to Target & Gurnee Mills Mall Sunday morning & Saluto's (YUM) for a late lunch.  He wanted to just hang out on Sunday so that's what we did.  Of course I cried on Sunday night.  Even think I saw a glassy eye in him as well.

I have heard from him more since Monday than over the last 2 months!   We tried to buy him a laptop at Best Buy on Sunday, but he said no.  Then Monday he goes to the NEX and buys one.  Darn kid!  Oh well.

We took all of Sarge's advice on driving directions via MLK Jr. and parking too. I also gave his number to my son so in case he ever needs a taxi, call Sarge.  AND, we spoke for a long time at the M&G with a guy who is runs security at one of the barracks.  He told us ... and if anyone else is listening and your kid is at A School ... tell your son to stay away from the Pier.  it's right across from the barracks and is the hang out. I guess is has a bar?  but also has pool tables and video games.  A huge temptation and there are also fights.  He said if you son or daughter is only there for a few months, just avoid it.  Also said peer pressure is a huge trouble maker for some of the sailors.  Just like school - the wrong group of sailors can bring a lot of trouble for your kid ... advice from the security guard to pass on.

Julie, Nice picture! Wasn't it a great weekend! Of course it went by way too fast. I can't beleive it's a week ago that we left.
