Meegan:  It is possible that the SRs have already updated their PIR lists.  However, he should still go.  You are guaranteed the 4 spots on the list and since only two of you are going in addition to your ex...they shouldn't make him wait in that case, but regardless, he will get in.  Just make sure he has proper ID!  I wouldn't worry about it.  He would be arriving with you, right?  Don't think there will be an issue.  Glad that he is going for his son's sake!

I have ANOTHER question, My son wrote me and I got the letter yesterday. It was a nice letter and he is very excited. My big question is this: Really long story short, My husband and i seperated in December (my son's stepfather) My son originally did not have him on his PIR list b/c he was not sure how to handle the seperation and PIR. Well, we agreed that we would make this trip to GL's together and so I asked my son to add him to the list to attend PIR. My son was very excited to hear that we would both still come. In the letter he is saying it might be to late to add him? He has 4 spots and only 2 are taken. Myself and my brother, does anyone know if this is the case, will my son's stepfather not be able to attend the graduation? Thank you ladies, we are getting down to the last minute stuff and I am still a little confused about a few things and plan on catching up this weekend. I have to work so much leading up to taking time off to go to GL that i am running short on time.

Thanks so very much Paige, I am more than happy to help in any way I can. Call me anytime you need or want to :-)

dbarton, love your letter, may Sailor said the same thing about the apple pie when she was during the 4th of July in 2010. She still says that pie was amazing :-) I am so happy for you and so glad we got to meet in FL. I may be back for a long weekend in August. My hubby and son are going on sail fishing trip so maybe we can all get together and go to dinner and a movie :-)

"sailors" not "sailor's"....sigh...I'm just thankful to have my internet back and working well!  Not good when it doesn't!

Good morning all!

I believe Trattoria P. is where the sailor's can get a free meal because of the friendship of Sarge and the owner???  Is that right, ellen?

dbarton:  Great letter!

Ladies, here is the link for Captains Cup info.  All divisions in this PIR group do that in the morning.  Fun day for them:

http://www1.netc.navy.mil/nstc/news_page_2011_02_26.asp

Hoping some can call home tomorrow afternoon with results!

Ok, hoping that some I'm a Sailor calls are coming in this afternoon!  From 221/222?  Calls can start as early as 2 pm GL time...so phones handy.  Be sure to ask your new sailors (HOOYAH!) if all in that division passed and post that.  Some sailors may have "watch" and won't be able to call right away.

NicksWifey: Trattoria Pomiglianos great place for Italian food. Make sure you ask if Nick (owner and Sarges friend) is there, he may even introduce himself to you.

Smart idea on the reservation, make sure you give yourself plenty of time to eat and enjoy!!!

For steak, we only ate at steak one night and that was at the Lone Star. It was good and reasonably priced.

We did eat breakfast at Wildberrys once and it was good (very commercial), but the sailors in my sons ship told us to go to to Grandma V's in Mundelein instead. It is a local restaurant, doesn't look like much from the outside and it isn't fancy, but the food was great. It is very laid back and they have some of the best crepes and pancakes I've ever had.

Meegan - My son also wants STEAK!!!!!!  not sure where to go either for the best steak.  Any suggestions anyone?

LETTER FROM our SR!! Even though most of what she wrote about we talked about on Saturday there are some things I thought worth sharing...4th of July they didnt get to see fireworks but got to eat cheeseburger, watermelon, chips and apple freaking pie!  (Those exact words).  She is so proud of herself and how strong she has become throughout the whole process :) I also sent her a questionnaire so she could fill it in...I asked her how the grannie panties were fitting and she said they are parachutes! - Tomorrow is her last fitness test, Saturday is Captain's Cup and of course the all important must pass Battlestations one day wink wink..  Prayers for her!

Sarge knows of places (or a place) where your sailor gets fed for free.....so ask him.

Comment by Jenn_NicksWifey on July 12, 2012 at 6:04pm

I just made reservations at Trattoria's in Libertyville.  My hubby LOVES Italian food and is practically begging for "real" food in his last letter.
