dbarton - SOOOOOOO exciting! I can't believe that it is almost here!   Has anyone decided on the Meet & Greets and if so what one if any are you attending next Thursday?

Good morning everyone, I know you all are super excited that PIR is finally getting so close. Navyknitt, the others in this PIR group are super lucky to have you cheering them on and I know in my heart it won't be long until you are there at PIR cheering for your Sailor <3

Anyone receive a BattleStations date from their SR?  If so, please friend request/message it to me.  Can't post them on here.  I'm trying to put the schedule together.

With only 7 divisions in this PIR group, wondering if they will start BattleStations this week or do them all next week.  Normally they would start this week.  But they could easily do them all next week too with so few going through.

For general BattleStations info, please see the discussion above in the Forum:  "BattleStations:  Their Final Test !"

By "leave", I don't mean the PIR hall, but what FTLW suggested, going behind the bleachers.  There comes a portion of the ceremony where there are speeches, etc.  But I agree with FTLW....the drums, etc are kind of throughout the ceremony.

Good morning all!

NickysWifey:  Suggest you get to PIR early and get a seat close to an "escape" so you can leave if you need to.  Are others going with you to save your seat?  If not, I'm sure whomever sits beside you would be happy to do that.

Maybe baby earplugs? I think they make them...or a head band that covers her ears.

I think they only perform as a large unit in the beginning...but then there a re drumline performances and choir along the way. At least one of each.

The Sailors arrive at 9:20 and it will be loud as they march in. At some point they will say the Sailors Creed together,  I think the 11 General orders of a Sentry (??) and sing Anchors Aweigh.

Will you be with someone else who could save your seat? About halfway down the Bleachers are some restrooms. The Mens is on the PIR hall floor level and the Womans is down the stairs...so you could maybe wait down there a bit...might not be as loud.

Hoping for more input...

I was just watching a video of PIR on YouTube.  It showed the performing div doing it's thing.  It sounds like it will be very loud.  The baby is going to cry at that.  Anyone have any suggestions for me to help her not be freaked out and help whomever we are seated near not have to listen to a crying baby?  I don't know if she would tolerate little baby headphones or anything.  Do they only drum at the beginning, where I could wait to come in until after it's over or is it throughout the ceremony?  I think she could handle some more melodic drumming, but what I was hearing was very loud, with the big bass drums and cymbals.  The PIR I was watching was from last November, but I imagine the format hasn't really changed.

Thanks for that Battlestations interview.  That was great!

I totally get what you mean.  A co-worker of mine has 2 sons in other armed forces. She told me I will receive the most wonderful letters from my son.  I doubted her, because my son was not fond of writing when in school and was never one for many words.   Well, so much for my doubt.  We have received some fabulous and heart-felt letters.  Wow, what a great son we have.  He will make an awesome sailor!  We are so proud :o) and can't wait until next week!
