DSC00118.JPG  A picture of our 3 kids from PIR 7/20/12   What a great weekend!  So to our veteran moms, how do we post some helpful tips so all the new moms arriving can read our suggetions and/or experiences?  Would be nice to assist them vs getting on each new blog.  I had over 250 emails when I got home - all from N4M - and it took me most of Tuesday to read and delete them.  Guess I am somehow got on more groups than I thought and need to remove myself from a few.

Nickswifey - isn't that incredible!  Beautiful picture by the way...my daughter has short little legs but man she was cranking all weekend and I had to try to keep up with her and I am 4 inches taller!

WOW - small world indeed - I am so glad they got to become friends!  Of course she tells me last names and I have to learn all of them to know who she is talking about!

Here is my favorite pic from PIR weekend!  None of my pics in the Drill Hall really turned out because I got greedy and tried to zoom.  : (  Couldn't tell on the camera screen, but once I uploaded to my computer, it wasn't so good.

Dbarton - It's funny you should mention your daughters gait.  I noticed a change in my husband's manner of walking as well.  He is 6'4" (all legs!) and I am 5'4".  I usually have to hustle to keep up with him when he's walking at (for him) a normal pace.  We went to the Renne Faire in Bristol, IL and walked all day, and we also went to Gurnee Mills Mall and walked all of it.  The Navy taught my husband how to stroll!  I never had to jog to keep up with him!

At the mall, it was also interesting to see how people walked around him.  It was crowded and people were cutting me off, swerving in front of me, making me change my pace or direction constantly.  My husband never had to.  I'm not sure if it was because of how other people acted or how he walked, but it sure was sexy to see those squared shoulders and confident demeanor.

We took the shuttle from the Ramada leaving at 6:45 got to seats at 7:10 and it was pretty crowded at that time...my original plan was to sit at the top row of the bleachers so we could have the wall to lean on and stand up to take pictures, couldn't since it was all taken, but I did notice everyone was fanning themselves there so it might get hotter up there.  We were midway but a little closer to front and that was open and cool FYI - with smaller graduation class (7 divisions) we got to get our sailor at 2:00 p.m. for the day; then each day we could get her by 7:00 and curfew was at 10:00, however she was pretty exhausted so we took her back by 8:30-9 each night

Hello again!  We left for a week for PIR 7/20 and just got back yesterday.  I can't believe how wonderful it was seeing my sailor at graduation...I felt like I could sprout wings and fly once I saw her marching in front of us!  I lost it...toured GL with her since she is staying for 25 weeks for A school - it's very cool.  What I noticed was my daughter's gait was very long (she's only 5'2") and swift...it was hard keeping up with her while we were walking out and about lol...also she did seem a little overwhelmed with the crowds in Chicago when we were shopping - like everyone is saying they have been in this disciplined environment for 2 months so it seems a little strange...she also would catch little naps in the car or whenever she could.  I love that I can talk to her everyday now!  Her photos were incredible so I felt they were worth it!  We also started off the night before graduation at Ramada and stayed for 2 nights...not as clean as I had hoped but then stayed at Navy Lodge 1 night a couple of days later and would absolutely stay there again!  We had to have her there with us to check in however.  Just wanted to thank everyone again for the support you had given and will keep in touch probably not as much as I did when I was stalking everyone including the mailman.  Congratulations to all our new sailors!

Ahhhh, Patrat.  You have solved the long-ago mystery for me by your post.  My son is a chatterbox normally, but when at Cracker Barrel after his PIR back in 2010, he was unusually quiet.  In fact, my profile pik here is of him at the table then---gazing into space.  I thought he was just tired, but now realize he was probably flashing back to meals at RTC when they couldn't talk!  :-)  Totally forgot about that.  Takes them awhile to come out of that "mold" and re-incorporate into the world a little bit!

Just returned home from a GREAT WEEKEND! Went to Sarge's meet and greet on Thursday which was very nice. Got some tips on driving into PIR which we did, and it was a breeze, granted it was a smaller graduating group. Seeing my son was wonderful! Don't really think that he started to relax till sometime on Saturday. He had a hard time with being able to talk at the table because that is not allowed. He loved going back to the hotel to just chill and kick the shoes off. Of course the time with him went by way too fast! Anyone who has PIR's coming up, enjoy!  It will be a memory of a lifetime! Now I have to wait till Christmas to see him again:( but at least I can talk to him now.
