Love you navyknit...head up - your son is a strong man and will continue this adventure as soon as he heals! Maybe that means he was meant to lead his new division!
CALL FROM SR!!! We got to talk for 50 minutes! Got her dad on conference then Tyler...Brian, Aunt Terry and Courtney all got to talk briefly to her as well...she is doing awesome!!! 12 days to go til graduation we cannot wait to see her. She made marksman with the shooting range! She gave blood the other day and got to have swiss cake roll and cosmic brownie...and she said they are starting to eat dessert now! Her division has earned 5 flags and a few pennants to carry at graduation - it sounds like they are kicking a-- and taking names. Hooyah Division 223 see you soon!
Patrat - 2 Phone calls! Awesome. Havent heard anything from Drew for quite awhile. Regretting telling him to get sleep instead of writing to us. Would you message me what the BS date is for div 223, please?
:) Just got off the phone with my son! He sounds great! He told me when BS are. Am I allowed to post that? txbabydocmom - my son just actually just called back to talk longer because he couldn't reach his girlfriend (too bad for her!) and he told me that he moved his bunk to be closer to the office for his job but that your sons bunk mate was his old bunk mate!
Thank you so much! I'll be sure to sit near the bottom. Do the bottom seats usually fill up first?
D'sMom: Not sure what you mean by them moving? Is this the division that was transferring to another ship? Unless your SR gave you a new address, I would continue to use the one you have. It will be forwarded if necessary to him.
mrsSR: Yes, you could have someone save some seats for you...many allow their little ones to dance around at the end of the PIR hall--inside....so cute to watch, many in their little navy outfits. So it may not be necessary to hang around outside (may be hot out there!). Also, know that you can bring snacks for the kids too.
I would sit with your 2 yr old at the end of a bleacher, maybe down low so you can get out if need be. You can go behind the bleachers to the bathroom area if you need to take him out. I wouldn't worry too much about it...many children attend these ceremonies and they are used to some who have "their moments." He may be fascinated with all of the activity, especially the sailors marching in. Not sure how he will do when they get to the "speech" part...but just know that you can get out if need be.
I also have a quick question. I will be travelling to PIR with 2 babies (ages 1 and 2). I will have help from the in-laws, but I don't think that having the kids sitting from 7am-9am will work out well for us. Would we be able to send someone in to save seats, and hang out with the kids outside, just so they don't get antsy? My 1 year old just started walking, and doesn't like to be sitting in one place for any length of time. Having her sit through the ceremony is going to be a chore. My 2 year old son is going through the terrible twos, and he'll sit still for a little while, but only if there's something going on. The minute he gets irritated, he'll start to have a melt down. I'm really worried that we'll embarras my hubby. :-/ I know the kids are just being kids, but I'm nervous about the length of time that they'll have to sit. Any suggestions?????
I'm most worried about the time before the PIR starts.
navyknit22-keep your head up. I know it's hard, but remember that everything happens for a reason. We may not understand the reason, but it does exist. I'll keep you and your son in my prayers.
I am sending my son a letter today, do I address it with the Ship 07/Div 225 or have they already moved? Can someone please send the updated Ship #?
Thanks
....still become sailors....not....become still sailors. Sorry. UGH!
