Meegan, I am so sorry you have to go through this on your own w/o your ROCK. Or at all. Darn it anyway. So, go to Idaho and let your friends take care of you and show you a good time. My niece and her family went to Silverwood last summer and had a blast.
Where are you staying for PIR? My son and I will be at the Residence Inn
Thank you diannep, thankfully he was not as close to the other one. Shane was his buddy and he knew the other 2 that were involved also just not as close. Him and I will get through this, he has always been my rock so I am a little lost without him. He is going to be NAVY Tough now so he will grieve in the way he will and I will be there to help him through just as he will me.
Ok, so it is just a setback. I have not heard anything from my son so I am assuming it is ok.
I am kind of excited to go to Silverwood and enjoy my friends. I think it will help the time pass by. He asked me about it in a letter also, he asked me if I was going to Silverwood. We had it planned together before we found out his leave date. I decided to tell him I was not sure and he has not asked since so that is good. I do not want to tell him that i went until he is done with BC. I am going to go and try to have a good time for a minute and then when I get back I will be on the 10day or so countdown :D
Meegan: My son was asmoed (setback) way back in 2009...when he was at bootcamp. Happens sometimes for many different reasons. He did fine after that.
I am so so very sorry not only about your son's friend, whose obit I read and could tell what a wonderful boy he was, but about the 2nd friend who is being removed from life support. Oh my....how horrible. Did your son know him too?
I think spending time with your friends tomorrow is a wonderful idea! You NEED this...for you! You have been through so much.
NO NEWS IS GOOD NEWS re: your son. So hang in there! You will have all of this behind you soon, and will be able to hug your son, hold him as he grieves and be in touch with him often after that (cell phone!). Enjoy your trip tomorrow!
Good morning everyone, I am reading through the posts from the last couple days and my heart is beating pretty rapidly. I may need to read through one more time b/c from what I am reading some divisions are going into BS 21 early? Diannep, your son was delayed? I am totally lost and probably jumping the gun b/c my nerves are shot right now. My son was the one that lost his dear friend a few weeks ago and I have to tell him at some point during liberty, I thought I had it under control until yesterday when I heard that they will be removing the other one from life support today. Now I am digging to find the words not for one but two. Everything is scareing me right now. I am also supposed to be heading for Idaho in the morning to spend Independence day with friends at Silverwood theme park. I have still decided to go b/c it is going to pass time until I can see my son and put some of this behind us after some much needed healing. I was not going to share the new news b/c it is depressing but I felt the need to reach out. I am not looking for any answers b/c there are not any, just a quick share. the last letter that I got was very upbeat and happy, I needed that. I also have not heard anything from him in a while but I am holding on to "No News is good news" I hope that everyone is doing ok. I truly care about you all deeply. We are almost there.
I received one of those calls from my son when he was there...that was a dreaded call. He was able to call me and tell me he thought he might be "asmoed(setback)" but wasn't sure. I was panicked. Didn't understand what that was. He called me a couple of days later (scripted call, Navy personnel by him) saying that he was being asmoed, here is the new PIR date (2 weeks later), etc. I was so panicked and didn't find much help on this site then. I was asking on the PIR groups and there weren't any on there who knew what that meant.
So....I know the feeling about wanting phone calls, but not wanting phone calls. As it turned out, it was a good thing for him...he was only asmoed for a week rather than the two they thought originally and he resumed with a division that was "on fire" and ended up getting the Hall of Fame flag...the top flag!
So, ladies...try to roll with the punches...pray hard...and stay encouraging to your SR!
patrat, Yikes! I'm so glad to hear that you got out of that ok.
I know exactly what you mean dbarton. I wanted a call from my daughter so badly when she was there. But, every time that phone rang with the 847 area code my heart would skip a beat and I would be praying everything was okay. I knew when she left that she could pass everything my biggest fear was she would get sick or hurt. I guess worry is a huge part of being a mom.
I just wanted to thank you for all the ladies on here that are constantly giving the pep talks and keeping us informed. I go into my SR's room everyday and cross out another day of BC, it helps me. I know they are super busy right now so I am trying to keep things in perspective-she is doing what she needs to do to get things done! I am thankful for not hearing from her too, "no news is good news"
Good morning ladies! Well I sent my son another letter yesterday and I must say that I have been sending alot, so trying to come up with things to talk about are getting a little harder; that is till last night on the way home from taking my daughter and some friends to a dance workshop and the car decided to not want to go any faster than about 10-15 mph on the highway!!!! yikes! A little scary. We were able to get over and call my husband and towing company and we are all fine. Point of the story is as we are sitting there waiting for my husband and the tow truck my daughter says "Well now you have something to write in your next letter!" Have a good day all! 17 days to go!!!!!! :)
Good morning everyone!
