I don't have to worry about holding off the PDAs, he's not into that regardless of what he's wearing. Honestly he'll probably be the only Sailor there that's NOT hugging someone.
My Sailor was in Pensacola and we didn't buy any of that either. I have heard of some who bought TV's if they wanted on in their own room but it isn't necessary and they can't take it with them so it would be a pain to get rid of quickly. My Sailor used her laptop to watch DVD's.
NicksWife, I don't think the RDC's read the recruits mail but there is no way to be sure about it. I hope you hear good news from him soon and I have my fingers crossed that you do :-)
navyknit - I got a phone call on 14 June, he said he was thinking about switching rates. He said he would let me know because the change it rate would determine how I handle things here at home. I also sent him a questionnaire with questions and multiple choice answers about some household things. All practical questions, no fluff. I'm sure he knows I need the answers to these questions, but I haven't gotten anything from him. Even if he could have just circled the multiple choice answers and wrote two letters telling me his rate, it would be acceptable to me. I just wonder and worry, I guess.
Do the RDC's read their mail? I've sent him a few off color jokes that I know he'll like, but maybe they got him in trouble? I'm probably overreaching, but I'm dissecting everything trying to figure out why he hasn't written. He's not really one for emotional stuff, but he should have answered the practical stuff at least.
I feel like I'm on an emotional roller coaster and I want to get off!! That bottle of wine in the fridge is looking REALLY tempting! : )
dbarton: Yes, holidays are "hold" days, like FTLW said.
Right now, I'm confused because in the PIR group this week, some are insisting that their SRs are doing BattleStations tomorrow night...which means they finish up on July 4th. Makes no sense to me as they can get the remainder of the group done by tonight. Why would they go into the holiday? I don't know. I guess we will see what divisions call tomorrow afternoon with the I'm a Sailor calls.
Dana: The "dixie cups" are sailors hats for the little ones at PIR. Remember, your sailor is NOT supposed to remove his/her hat and put it on anyone else! So purchasing the dixie cups is a good thing!
NicksWife: They are told when they can write...and each group of RDCs is different. Some allow them to only write once a week...others allow more...but it sometimes is mailed out just once a week, although sometimes more. Are you not receiving any mail from your SR?
Thanks, navyknit!
You aer welcome for the pics...if you go to Boot Camp Moms group...JenniferG just posted some...they may be a few pages back as that group moves right along!
Yes...Federal Holidays are treated like Sunday (so they will get "Holiday time" like they would on Sunday) so it is skipped in the counting of training days. Thursday will be 5-2...for 223
