Seating at PIR:

Okay...the pic above… See the yellow lines? Those start off to the left at the big garage door that opens to let your Sailors in. They'll come in in order of their Divisions and march all the way to the other end and make a U-ee, march back and then line up in formation by division. See the closest set of stacked chairs? That is where the first Division will stand…then it goes on down the line. The 900 Div is in the middle I believe (they come in after...a space is left for them) I believe the 800 Divisions march in last…but don’t quote me on that!

When you come into the Hall you will see Sailors on the floor standing next to Division markers. This is where your Division will be standing for PIR. You should sit in the stands in front of the marker. The markers are positioned so that when you sit in the stands your Division is a little bit to the right of you. There is also seating upstairs in the balcony.

Here is another pic of a Division Marker:

...you can see the Garage Door Entrance open on the left side of the pic...this was before the ceremony. The Divison markers are removed before the ceremony.

The "Dixie" cups run around $5 I think! I am loving reading all of your stories and support of each other!

Thank you navyknit22! He had a great day! I have a post I am working on as it was our Celebration Weekend at Church also in honor of our Servicemen1 Sailor son wore his whites to Church! Woo-Hoo!

Comment by Lala Ribbon Queen PIR Ribbons on July 1, 2012 at 6:04pm

also Navyknitt, I hear from my friend who is taking care of our pets and house that I have a surprise package waiting for me at home. I can't wait to see what it is. I love surprises and I am sure you are guilty of sending it :-)

Comment by Lala Ribbon Queen PIR Ribbons on July 1, 2012 at 5:54pm

navyknitt, they also have the dixie cup hats at the small concession stand in the PIR hall. It is a good idea for those with small children to get them one since the Sailors will get in trouble for letting anyone wear theirs :-)

Comment by diannep on July 1, 2012 at 5:46pm

Dana:  Clothes, yes--if you want to take some to PIR.  Sheets/pillows, no.  They cannot wear personal clothing until they phase up in A School, but they can store it.  So...you can take a few things to PIR to hand off to them (either once they have moved over to GL base or meet them at the airport to hand off if flying out).  You can mail more later, once they have phased up.

Comment by DanaTN on July 1, 2012 at 5:37pm
Does anyone know what all they can have or will need at A school.. personal clothes? Will they need sheets pillows? Oh so many questions .lol its getting close !
