We have two german shepherds. Dazie is 3 yrs old and about 70 lbs (really scrawny from being malnourished before Nick rescued her) and Dixie is 6 months and about 50 lbs. She thinks she's a lapdog. Normally, she has very limited sniffing privileges with the baby, but a couple days ago, I let them play, with very very close supervision, of course. She sat next to the baby and rolled so she was laying on her lap. Actually, Dazie thinks she's a lapdog too, but she only sits on Nick's lap. I can't tell you how many times I have to say "Don't bite the dog!" Not something I ever thought I would have to say, I've always had cats. Here is Dazie and Katelynn. 2012-06-27_17-11-40_700.jpg
navyknit22 - Where do you get the Dixie cups? I read about them, but don't remember where to get them.
I am really looking forward to meeting everyone. Is there a meet and greet? I see mentions of it in groups, but haven't found any real where, when type info.
Drew2.0 - what do you mean at a diagonal?
mrsSR - that's so cool that your little one will be able to walk to her Daddy. My little one is 6 months and has started babbling "da-da" but I don't know if she knows what she's talking about yet. : ) I'm hoping she'll say it for him that weekend, he would be tickled!
Thank you so much ladies! Yes, I'm going to PIR with the baby, my mom, and his parents. I'm looking forward to it so much! I bought a little dress for the baby, Katelynn, at the NEX a few weeks ago. It's in the digi-camo that their NWU's are made of. But I think I will stop at the NEX and get her a little dress that matches her daddy's dress whites. He wanted her to be decked out in Navy something for his PIR. He bought her a pink camo onesie before he left, but she's grown out of it already. Good thing I had her pictures taken in it first!
I know PIR is coming up fast, thank God. I'm just a little lonely and whiny today, I guess. My older son is at his dad's house this weekend and my parents and brother went out of town.
Thank you again for the updates! It really helps. I'm not sure where he is going to A-School yet. He had planned on being an EN and going to GL, but when I talked to him on the phone on 14 June, he said he was thinking of switching to HM (Corpsman) with an A-School in San Antonio. Someone there told him HM A-School is a year long and his family gets to move with him. It turns out, school is only 14 weeks with a 4-5 weeks waiting period and we wouldn't get to move with him. I told him to pick the job he thinks he will like the best because he'll be doing it for 20 years. But I'm secretly hoping for EN because I could see him every weekend, we live only 75 miles from GL. I would drive that every weekend, no problem. If he goes to SA, I wouldn't see him until around Thanksgiving. With both kids, the cost of plane tickets and having to find a dog sitter for two big dogs, I don't think I would be able to go.
I have wondered too if some of our SR's are buddies! I hope so! My husband and I are going to try to get there really early that morning because I'm somewhat disabled. Maybe we'll end up sitting close enough that we can help you with the kids! I would LOVE that! I'll be wearing LaLa's Ribbons too!!! Just remember to look for a short, squatty bodied little woman with an extremely tall hubby and that will be ME!!! I'm extremely thankful for this site too, don't know how I could have gotten through this time without it! I'm with Drew 2.0 together we ROCK!!!
My hubby will be in school in great lakes as well. :-) We may be relocating to that area (God willing). we have an 11 month old, and a 2 year old and my oldest asks for his Daddy often. My 11 month old daughter was only crawling when he left, and is now going to be able to walk into her daddy's arms at the PIR. I think that will be such an amazing moment for him. :-) My hubby doesn't really mention the flags and all of the good stuff that his division is doing! I'm so proud of them. :-) It's hard work to make it through, but they're exceeding expectations. I love it! Well maybe we'll see you guys at the Graduation. I'll be the lady struggling with 2 young kids in sailor outfits and we'll all be wearing LaLa's Ribbons. :-) My MIL is going as well so she should be a help, but my children do not like to sit still, so my hubby will not have a hard time finding (or hearing) us thanks to screaming kiddos. Have you guys heard of who some of their friends are? Maybe our SR's are buddies already! :-) This site is so helpful for me, and I'm extremely thankful!
My son writes really short letters also. But like your hubby, in every letter he talks about how much he appreciates my letters to him. I have written to him almost every day too!! We are going to PIR and he will stay at Great Lakes for A School, so I think we will get to spend the whole weekend with him. YEAH!!!! I am in awe of those of you with little ones. Hang in there ladies, I lift you all up in prayer each and every day! navyknit - I so appreciate your cheerfulness and encouragement and guidance. We are all getting through this and I'm so proud of our SR's and all of us too!!! I love you all!!!
