Hello everyone.
I am wondering who can tell me what day we are on in training. I got lost the last couple weeks between the funeral and planning my Silverwood trip over the 4th. I have been keeping up on writing and got a letter that was dated Friday the 21st and he said they were entering "Hell Week" He was excited for that. I am trying to figure out about when they will be doing battlestations, I know we cant be sure but would like an idea. Can anyone help? Thanks
Hi Tampsha: Loved your post...and could relate! My son was living out of town when he called me, on New Years Eve 2008, and asked what I thought about him joining the Navy. My first response (without thinking) was NOOOOOOOO! Fear...yep. That's what it was. He was 22 yrs old at the time and I couldn't understand why he wanted to do this...he had never talked military before. Now, granted, I knew nothing about the military. Had the greatest respect for them...but knew nothing. I calmed down and then said: You talk to the recruiter, and I'm going to get some down here to pray about a decision on this. (we are firm believers in prayer!). It was amazing that by just a couple of days later, when he called to say he liked his talk with the recruiter, we were all very calm with this and felt maybe this would be a good thing if he chose to do it!
He has now been honorably discharged, but he will tell you...for him, this was a good thing. He grew up alot, learned alot. Whether they are career, doing one enlistment, or two, etc....they will learn. It is amazing just how much they have "grown up" after bootcamp! Some ladies are fearful that their sailors will have changed...not be the same personalities, etc as before. But all are pleasantly surprised that they still have their same "person" with some wonderful additional changes (maturity!) that are great!
So glad that your son is doing so well. I promise you...PIR will be a day you will never forget. You will never be more proud of your son than you will on that day...it is just an experience that is hard to put into words! So get ready!
I hope you all are doing well and get letters and maybe evn a call!
navyknit22 - You are doing a wonderful "job" as the creator of this group and being supportive!
Ahhhh....so sweet, Lala. I can just picture your parents' faces when she shows up! Love surprises like that!
Good morning all. Have a great weekend!
Just got back from taking my Sailor back to the Orlando airport not too long ago. She flew home to NC to meet up with her husband. Tomorrow she is going to visit my parents (her grandparents) and surprise them. They think she is still here with us. It will be at least Christmas before she can take leave again so it will be a long time before they get to see her. I am planning to go visit her in September when the Blue Angels have an airshow in VA Beach :-) No way could I wait until Christmas to see her, at least not as long as she is on American soil :-) Missing her already!!!
Sleep tight, navyknit!
