Meegan - It sounds like you raised a great young man. You will be so proud of him when you see him at PIR!
Diannep, there was one mom (AliciaG) who has PIR this week and leaves tomorrow. dbarton from this 7/20 PIR and two others I think they both have PIR on the 13th. I should have taken notes lol. And I get to meet Navyknit22 in August when she comes to Asheville :-) And then planning to meet you and hopefully Betsy in Jan or Feb on our way to the Keys :-) I have met more moms from FL than I have from my home state of NC lol
How many did you have, Lala? Only two from the PIR groups? Hope it all went well!
dbarton, I bet it felt great getting to cross off all those days at once :-) Thanks so much for coming tonight. I really enjoyed meeting you and the others. We did a group picture and I wish we had done one before you left. One other mom was from this PIR, now I can remember her real name but not her Navy for Moms name lol. I should take notes lol.
Sorry I was MIA today. I had lots of work to do and then the get together to get ready for. We had a great time and I wish everyone here could have joined us. There needs to be big cruise dedicated to Navy Moms members so we can all meet and have a great time together :-)
I am smiling and even giggleing through tears and laughter right now. Thank you all so much for sharing. My Mother and Stepfather came by so that helped. We sat and chatted for about an hour. I am so happy that I have all of you. I will say I am still missing my son but reading your posts about what they are eating, singing, and doing is so very helpful. I am also happy to hear that I am not alone on this whole "Funk" I am going to pull out of this thing b/c I have so much to be thankful for. I got pregnant with Corey when I was 17 and things could have gone so differently. Corey and I were always friends/mother and son. I did not realize how much I depended on him until he was gone. He recently has carried me through a seperation with his Stepdad and been there for me. He made me fires this winter to help me stay warm, he cut my fire wood, stacked it, and made sure he was doing the "man stuff" that I did not know how to do. In the same process he showed me how to do these things knowing that he was going to be leaving. I think I am a little lost without him. I am working on getting a life of my own and I am sure that will help a little. He is all i think about every day. Thank God I live next door to my best friend b/c I surely would lose it. Anyway, I am going to focus some of my energy (Maybe) on entering his room and picking up. I just have not been able to do it. I should also put his car in the gargage. It seems silly but it is in the same spot he left it on May 21st when he left my home. I have started it a couple times though.
Thank you so much Diannep. I'm so excited I can hardly stand it. I'm hoping this last 3 weeks goes really fast. I'll have to stay really busy, that always helps! Sharing what we hear from our SR's really does help. I've really appreciated hearing what other recruits have said in their letters to their Moms or wives too!!! Hang in there dbarton and navyknit22, we're definitely on the downhill slide!!!
I am so glad to hear that I am not the only one feeling in a funk in the last few days....it actually helped me that we went out of town for the weekend, allowed me to cross out 5 days on her calendar once we got back into town. Thank God for all of you on here, when one of us hasn't gotten a letter we live vicariously through others who have!
I found that info about how long their liberty is if they are staying at Great Lakes for A school! I was wondering because my SR said in his letter today that he wasn't sure about how long he will have. It sounds like we should have the weekend!!!
Janell: GL A School students have daytime liberty throughout the weekend. They move over to the base right after PIR. You say your temporary goodbyes then and go about your day. It takes 2-4 hours for them to complete the move over there. Make sure your sailor has a phone card (no cell allowed yet) to call you when ready to be picked up. "A" School base is right next to RTC.
Once you pick your sailor up, he can return to the base after liberty with his cell, laptop, etc. Then you can stay in better touch. I just heard on last week's group that their liberty was from 6 a.m. until 10 p.m (GL A School students). Not sure if that varies, but that is what they had last week. You are very fortunate to have a good amount of time with your new sailor!
