NicksWife - I LOVE that you shared that cadence with us. I LOVE those! Anyway, I got a letter today! First one in two weeks. Now I'm all weepy again! He returned my questionaire that I had sent him - wow, is that a great way to get info!!! I can't remember where I read information about how long their liberty is likely to be if they are staying at Great Lakes for A school. Can anyone help me find that again? Meegan - this is my sentence to share with you that was in my letter today... "I do greatly appreciate the letters! I find them very refreshing and encouraging!" Me again - Hang in there sweetie, PIR will be here before we know it!!! My son also wrote, "It's all really getting into one big blur and when I look at the calendar it kinda shocks me to see what we have left is smaller than what we've done." That is true, thank God, that is TRUE!!!
Meegan, you're getting many more details than I get. Thanks for sharing. My guy just asks for me to send more sports results and look up Navy things that who knows what he needs that info for....and yes I have missed exits, too. Even drove pass my house once - oops. Three weeks to go! We can do it.
Meegan, I know what you mean. I thought I was doing ok too, but the last couple of days I have been off. We booked our flight yesterday which is good, but then last night I kept having this dream about PIR day. It was weird. It's was one of those dreams where you wake up in the morning and have to think "Did that really happen?" Maybe with only 22days, 18hrs., and 27 mins. we are just getting a little anxious! :)
Meegan - I totally understand! I was freaking out last week because I had gotten his other letters early in the week, one Tues and one Wed but by Fri I hadn't heard anything from him. I finally got a letter on Saturday, sat in my driveway reading it with the car running and a/c on. The mail came just as I was leaving for a birthday party. He had written a little every day, even though I think he wasn't supposed to. He wrote out one of the cadences that they sing now, since I guess they passed their march drill. Here it is, I had to youtube some so I could get the rhythm down, but I didn't find this exact one on youtube. I think the rhythms are all the same, since they march to it. Anyway, it sounds good in my head : D
And then, since I had asked him how the food was, he gave me a rundown of his breakfasts. Want to know why defense spending is up? He eats scrambled eggs, turkey sausage, an apple, a banana, cereal, juice, yogurt and peanut butter (plain, I guess, I've seen him do that) every day. And sometimes a PB&J sandwich, too!! He has a hearty appetite, and dammit, never gains an ounce!
Thank you NicksWife, I got the message and at lunch I am going to go on. That is so cool that you got someone right on the same ship as your husband. I am so excited about doing this and I am spreading the word. As for the FB Page, I sent a request.
As for leaving this site-NO WAY I need you all. I can do all b/c I have no life since my son left. I do not know why but today and yesterday have been really hard. He left on May 22nd and I felt like I was getting better but something is really eating at me the last couple days. Maybe I just need a letter! I am hurting today, I was thinking about him and all the other SR's on my way to work and I drove right passed my exit AGAIN. I have done this a few times since he left. I hope today gets better. I am a strong believer in our days and attitudes are how we make them but this is getting the best of me. I hope I did not bring anyone down. Anyone got a letter in the last week? Maybe you could share even 1 sentence with me? Gosh, I hope this is not out of line. I think I am bordering on desperate today. I hope everyone is having a good day. Mine will get better!
For certain, I was not suggesting anyone leave N4Ms. I have taken much info that I have learned here to the Facebook page and passed it on to other wives/moms of SRs. Whereas FB has groups for the families in bootcamp now, and a couple Navy Wives groups, this site has sections for just about everything, and you can learn about not just bootcamp, but the rates and A Schools and a plethora of other things I have not even delved into yet.
I totally agree with diannep and highly encourage you all to please stay on this group. FB is great for socializing with other family members of your SR's division, but remember that the ladies on there are also very new to the Navy life just like you are. They may not, and probably will not, have all the correct information that you will really need.
Yes, as NicksWife said....please try and stay on both groups if you join FB. I have had several private messages recently with misinformation that is being passed around in the FB groups because we N4Moms veterans are dispensing info HERE, not so much on there. So please keep in touch with N4Moms for lots of important info!
Meegan, I sent you a friend request/message with info. But you can also join the facebook page, its a lot easier than the website. I know RecruitMan (the admin) is trying to update the site to make it possible to track how many are writing to the recruits. FB page is www.facebook.com/groups/453921554637473/ and it is a closed group, so you won't get instant access, but he's pretty quick at responding!
