Meegan - I've been thinking of you today. And I'll continue to keep you, your son, and your sons' friend's family in my prayers!
Meegan: Prayers for you...I know this is such a difficult day...you will be grieving for your son's & your loss and representing him there. There is just no easy way to get through the sudden death of a young person...I'm so glad that when you tell your son, he will be able to stay in contact with you then (can have his cell/laptop if you give to him at the airport or after he moves onto GL School base if he is staying). He may need to talk to you alot and work his way through it. Please post later and let us know how it went.
Meegan, Thinking of you today. I believe that you are doing the right thing by waiting. My family had a similiar situation fairly recently when my niece was at Marine Bootcamp. My brother's father in law passed away while she was gone. She didn't come home because her grandfather had made it clear before she left that he didn't want her to not graduate on time. They did however speak with the Chaplin and he told her. They did allow her to call home, but that was really tough too because your so far away, and what you really need is to be comforted which is hard to do over the phone. Waiting untill you see your son will allow you to come to terms yourself which will make you more able to comfort your son.
I am getting ready and getting myself together to go to Shane's funeral. This is going to be very difficult, I will be strong the way my son would have been if he was here. I do not know what the "right thing" to do is so I am attempting to do this the way I would have wanted if I was in BC and my friend was killed. My best friend is going with me so I will not be alone. I am dreading the day I have to tell my son but maybe today will help me find the right words. It is such a tradgedy for all involved. Thank you all for the advice and suppport through this difficult time. I truly have a special place in my heart for all of you.
Glad you arrived safely, Lala, and like where you are staying! Our hurricane season starts June 1st and goes to Nov 30th. Actually, we started before June this year! Already had a tropical storm, but it didn't hit us. Oh boy! Sun is now shining here...after I did my 2 mile walk w/dogs in pouring down rain earlier today. UGH! More rain is expected though. Hope the sun shines for you!
Good morning ladies, I had success yesterday at the new outlet mall with finding something new to wear for PIR! and I just finished some letters for Letters for Recruits. Knowing how much my son appreciates his letters, and knowing that there are others who don't get any just breaks my heart! The letters aren't very long, but at least it lets them know that they are not forgotten.
Lala: It has been raining all day down here in Miami...more expected for most of the weekend. Hoping that you get some sun! Stay tuned to the news as the Hurricane Center today showed this storm eventually going over the middle of the state. That can change...and it is nothing real bad yet. But keep informed! :- Welcome to our hurricane season!
