Patrat-ship04-div-223, Sorry it takes me so long to respond it's because I cant pull the site up at work. We are from Brentwood L.I., so I call my sons girlfriend today and she tells me that she spoke with him on monday.....so that's were my phone call went. She said that he was in good spirits and that the begining was hard because of the hours they worked but know he's loving it. She also said that he was going to A school for weapons officer. like everyone else on this site I'm excited to meet the new man that he has becomeand I would also love to hear his voice.
AGREED!!! Where did our kids go? LOL I am sooper dooper excited to meet mine too. I so cannot wait! We are so lucky ladies to have such wonderful children.
YAY navyknit22 and Patrat - and my daughter is the weapons petty officer, although her sleep is broken she still likes her job, gets up at midnight to issue weapons and 4 a.m. as well - and she loves her sleep!
navyknit22, I agree! I think we are all in for a major shock! And I mean that in a good way! I can't wait either to meet my new Sailor, everytime I think about that day, I get very emmotional. Better start stocking up on the tissues :)
Ok Ladies, I rec'd my 2nd letter today. Seems as though my son has taken on the job of yeoman and he takes care of everyone's dental/medical appts. writes up the plan for the day, writes passes and takes care of documentation for the events that they do. He said that it's very time consuming, but he likes it! I need to know what they did with my son:) Cause this doesn't sound like him at all! The only other thing that he said was to please keep sending letters! He loves to get them and read how everyone is doing.
Thanks ladies for getting my back but I will not risk jail...I told her in a letter about our flight times and the possibility of calling while I could not speak with her...maybe she can talk her way into a call once we are on the ground LOL
Meegan, so glad that you were able to convince him. It sounds like he is doing pretty well.
Meegan: SO glad that you made that suggestion to him and he agreed about no computer time. Wheew!
I got another letter last night (son is ship 04 div 223) this time it was written on Sunday the 15 so I got his call after the letter was written. He got his wisdom teeth pulled and he said he was able to catch up on some sleep while he was in recovery. He also stressed how much he misses me and the "Merrit Clan" This is my best freind and her kid and then the group of our young people that are really part of our family. Our Clan is just short (1) right now and that would be my son. It was really cool but hard to hear his voice. I talked to him a little about the computer thing after Battlestations and asked him not to waste his time with it until I got there and I would bring his laptop (just trying to protect him from finding out about his buddy Shane) He said he would wait. THANK GOODNESS. In his letter he said he tries to fly under the radar and not get in trouble. He said they have had a lot of IT. He also lost his balance doing something and so one of the petty officers got on him a bit. Other than that he said he has not had any problems. I miss my son so much. I know we all miss ours but we will all be stronger for it.
