thanks diannep....still no call so I think you are right
dbarton: From my calculations, her week 4 should start towards the end of the week, I think.
Oh I said rank meant rate oops.
They did not ask my son to come to the desk when we were there to verify anything, but it could be that they saw him with us several times during the weekend and didn't need him to.
I would stay there again in a heartbeat.
FTLW have you asked them to pay you a promotional fee...LOL.
Here is some additional info on the Navy Lodge:
I stay military when I can...hubby has been AF Reserves for 27 years, son is the Sailor...so I have dependant ID. You don't need it for this Navy Lodge. You tell them it is for PIR and they may ask for your Recruits Name and Rate (Navy enlisted have "rate" not rank...it coincides with their pay grade E-1 to E-9 for enlisted. E-3 is the highest rate they can "rank up" too in BC). They may also ask you to bring them by to verify...but I always forget if that is enforced.
It is clean, I did not get a kitchenette as those are first come first serve. We had to queens and a rollaway.TV with DVD player, microwave, small fridge etc. Had nice furniture and a lobby with a fireplace. Hot coffee 24/7. Vending machines (variety...even one with alcohol! You have to get tokens at the desk for this.) Coin laundry, You can buy Computer time (these look exactly like the ones I saw in Recruit phone Computer room at the NEX) and pay for printer usage. Computers are in front of the elevators on each floor. WiFi has a charge. They do not have a Shuttle Service...but you can ask to arrange for a taxi...again here is where Sarge can come in handy!(SARGE AT 847-212-0246)
Lobby has DVD's for rent, post cards and a Curio with some Navy items for sale. They will give you a temporary pass to use at the small NEX down the road...there is also a gas station (don't need a pass for that).
It runs about $65.00 a night...no tax.
Here is a pic of the pass (courtesy of Craig):
They do a brown bag breakfast daily...was great for PIR. Bagel, cream cheese, chewy granola bar and large OJ...all in this bag:
Was great for PIR! I don't have pictures of the outside...only our messy hotel room!
The NL is about 1.5 miles from RTC. It is not on base but it is in some of the base housing area.
Here is a Mapquest from the Navy Lodge to Ohio Street, Gate 8 of RTC:

(click the Aerial view when it opens up!)
I stayed at the Navy Lodge and thought it was great. It is very close to RTC and the gate to the base. It is located in the family housing area and was $65 a night. There is not a shuttle from the hotel, but we had a car so it didn't matter (you can always call Sarge for a cab ride).
You also get a limited purchase (no alcohol or smokes), temporary card to shop at the NEX stores, a schedule for PIR a list of restaurants etc at check in.
Do call them directly for a reservation and tell them you are coming for PIR, they need your SRs name and rank for the reservation. If someone going has a current military ID that works too.
Well, I was hoping for a phone call this weekend. I made sure that someone was home at all times, but unfortunatley I haven't received one yet :( . Hopefully soon!
diannep - so my daughter is in div 223, you think hell week will be this week for her; shooting range, inspections, marlinspike etc? her PIR is July 20th
Meegan: There is really no "best" hotel. All are relatively close to RTC and most have PIR shuttle if you decide not to drive. Navy Lodge is very close (no shuttle but close to drive) and very reasonable. I believe $65/night? Lala and FTLW have more info about that since they stayed there.
Ramada, where dbarton is staying, is where one of the MeetNGreets will be held on Thurs night. It is also reasonably priced and close by---they have a shuttle.
Betsy and I stayed at Residence Inn when we were at our PIRs. If you are going to be there by yourself, probably don't need that much space or to spend that kind of money. It is better for those who have a group since they have the 2 bdrm 2 bath units and studios too, all with full kitchens. They are also pet friendly if anyone is bringing a pet to reunite with their sailor.
Meegan. Looks like the lower numbered divisions will start hell week (training week 4) at the mid to end of the week. Others would do it next week.
Hell Week is not as bad as it sounds. Just means that they get up earlier, have lots of inspections, and are very busy. It is also the "turnaround" week for them where finally they are feeling more positive about their bootcamp experience and have the end in sight!
We rented our car from an offsite Budget from airport, saving $300! And we are staying only at hotel for night before graduation at Ramada near base for $72 a night which is a discount for graduation.
