Seamen Recruits are here getting medical treatment for minor injuries. FIT DIV is also in this area.

It's hard not knowing! That is the purpose for this group. Most likely if you are here your SR has had trouble keeping up or not passed a PFA due to some sort of minor medical issue. Often it stress fractures bringing SR's here. Know this when you don’t get a call that is a very good thing. Calling them is not a good thing and it can negatively impact your SR to have his or her “Mommy“ calling! They are harder on them in this DIV than any other. They want them up and out. The best thing you can do is sends tons of mail. Send scripture and motivational mail. I know my SR said reading the Bible was considered a sign of weakness here. When you get a tearful call motivate. Stay positive and encourage you SR. This is a small detour to greatness and getting the I'm a Sailor call! Recruit family and friends…“Navy mom friends are the best“…to send your SR mail as well. NMH for you all!!

I get no phone calls from my son. But usually a couple of letters a week.
I think frustration is the name of the game for this division :(
How often are all of you hearing from your SR while in RCU? I have gotten 1 call in 3 weeks and it was the one to tell me he was going into RCU for Strep Throat. He wrote and said he felt great 2 days after receiving antibiotics, and 3 weeks later he is still there. I have no idea what is going on. He was only supposed to be there 2 weeks and I can't get any information. His graduation has come and gone. I am beyond frustrated. It seems like the communication for the parents is sadly lacking. Our plane tickets had to be put on hold and have gone from the $375 per we originally spent on them to $1200 per plus the $150 change fee per ticket. The closer we get to a PIR date the more they raise in price.
My son did the same thing. He requested a 2nd opinion from another hospital. He said there was a federal hospital slightly off base. Not sure what that means "slightly"Either it is or it isn't right? I was afraid that maybe that made the 1st dr mad. but if it worked for you daughter I hope it works for him too.
Did she ever get the indication from the dr or RDC that she might be seperated because of injuries and meing anemic? I am so worried for my son he seems to think that after PT is over his dr will do that to him. I can't imagine why they would let him stay there and recover if they have no intentions on allowing him to stay?
you are right Phillies what is most important that they graduate from BC. I told my son if he didn't have a PIR ceremony that would be ok I just wanted him to get through this ordeal. In a grand scheme of thing just getting on with their lives in a postive manner is what is important. May I ask what your daughters injuries are?

I am so glad your son is out of Gr Lakes and can move onto his A school! Sorry there was no cermony though. Keep in touch
sgraham,
I am sorry for your family and daughter. I feel the same way you do. Everyone keeps telling me my SR is in good hands while in RCU. He on the other hand tells me a different story how they tear you down. I see them doing that to be sure you are mentally strong enough while in BC training but while they are trying to recover. For alot of these kids it's their first time being away from home and of course from their main care takers their parents. This is a huge stress on them once they get injured or hurt. They RDC's yelling at them telling them they are navy rejects doctors lieing to them or stringing them along.
Believe me I am all about having the best of the best defending our freedom. Unfortantely this doesn't help them . They need support while healing. My SR says he hasn't seen daylight in over a week. People in there are going stir crazy and how could they not.
Stress fractures show up on an xray right? Seems like that is pretty straight forward so how does she now have a bone disease? Wouldn't that be throughout her body? SMH... I truely feel for you. It's stressful when they are in BC and you know they are seeing and hearing things they have never expierienced before. You prepare yourself for that However when they get into RCU they are treated like as my son said they were called "rejects". I am sad for all of them in there. Wishing them all to get better and to stay strong.
Keep us posted on your daughters recovery or what happens next. Will keep her in my thoughts.
