Have you heard from your daughter or son?  My daughter is in Div 300 and she sounds good, but tired.  Interesting in hearing how your daughter or son is doing.

If I know another Mom from the same ship/div# & they have an address do you think I could use that with our son's name to start sending letters? Just a thought

Sending mail to your recruit. Once you get their address, here's how the envelopes should be addressed:

SR Last name, first name (SR stands for Seaman Recruit)
Ship XX Division XXX
Recruit Training Command (aka RTC - boot camp central)
XXXX Street name
Great Lakes, IL 60088 (there will be a zip + four number too)

Some of you will receive calls during P-days (Processing days - which last anywhere from 4-8 days, then "real" boot camp starts). Those who call home are calling for more information for security clearance reasons. These calls are on the Navy's dime. Some of you will not receive those calls - so now at least you will know why!

Tisha--I am sure you can start sending letters to him since it will take up to 2 weeks for the mail to get to him

Groups: It's best to belong to a PIR group, and then if you want more info on your recruits Division, then open a discussion above. However, JessicaB is correct, it's hard to follow the posts in a discussion. The truth is, all the divisions are experiencing the same things around the same time (within a day or two), so you'll have more input and more support in this PIR group you are already in!

When you finally do get your recruits address, consider updating your user ID on this site. Don't bother with ship #, it's only important for mailing letters. What matters is the Division number and PIR date. That way people can identify you faster. Here's how my User ID looked when my son was in bc:
Sobe Div 201 PIR 6/4

EQ: Yes, the Navy is taking random photo's of the recruits, but they don't post them on the net due to security reasons. They organize them into a boot camp yearbook, called a Keel Book. Recruits order this book when they order their formal portraits and DVD of PIR. The portraits are ready by PIR date (our son ran back to barracks after ceremony to give them to us), his DVD arrived last week (5 weeks after PIR) and the Keel Book will take another few weeks to arrive.

Andrew's Support, I sent you a friend request so I could send you a message on that.

It sounds like letters and boxes arrive depending on geographical location. My son arrived in GL on 7/07 and I haven't recieved anything yet. Hopefully today!
