While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

BC has been compared to prison in some letters, then it's okay the next letter - then back to "it sucks" and then, "we are finally coming together as a division", and so on and so on...... Send them inspirational letters with "team building" motivational phrases - because they either all win or they all lose - and doing IT (Intense Training) is not fun ladies! Need an example? Hold your arms out to your side, like you are ready to do a jumping jack. Now make small little circles with your arms, now do this for one hour. Yes, IT sucks - so tell them now to put personalities aside, befriend the guy you don't like and work together as a team so they can do the job at hand.

PS: My son had IT for 1/2 hr for not putting a period after his sentence when he wrote in the log book. He laughs now, but didn't then!

Comment by SOBE,PIR 6/4/10 IT Mom, Italy on July 16, 2010 at 9:19pm: FYI: the form letter won't say when they leave RTC (Recruit Training Command, aka boot camp central!). Some of your recruits will know right away if they are a G&G (Grad & Go) - which means they leave BEFORE Monday on PIR weekend. Some find out a bit later.

Comment by Shannon Navy Mom on July 16, 2010 at 8:13pm: Hi everyone, Happy to hear the letters are trickling in!...I wrote a note earlier without re-reading it! I started to type.. then was distracted and perhaps even deleted part of what I wrote. I.was referring to myself when I wrote departing on Sept 5th, as in Getting there Sept 1st leaving on Sept 5th. After reading it sounds like I am referring to my son and I could not change or delete it once I realized it much later. So sorry if I led anyone to believe that I know where my son is going or when, because I sure don't. The letters do not provide that info. to my knowledge. Again, apologize for any confusion.

My son is on Ship 6 and Div. 942. He is going into the CTI program. I am sooooo proud of him, but miss him like crazy! God bless all of you and will keep all of your loved ones in my prayers!

Comment by junjens (DIV 291 PIR 9-2) on July 16, 2010 at 7:36pm: Joeysmom, my letter only told me the PIR date. I have no idea when my son will leave for San Antonio but I know he is a grad and go. Hopefully I will get a letter from him if he knows!
