Have you heard from your daughter or son?  My daughter is in Div 300 and she sounds good, but tired.  Interesting in hearing how your daughter or son is doing.

That's great suzieq, that's what they did for the last PIR group who graduated on a holiday weekend. Remember though, if they are not a G&G, many of your sailors will have 2 or 4 hours of watch duty over those 5 days. So don't pre-buy tickets to any museums, theme parks, etc. until they tell you their work schedule on PIR day.

junjens you are my hero.
becky, your son could very well be right. But there is still hope because my son said the 25th on the phone and again in a very recent letter, my son could still be mistaken. I am just staying busy but keeping the phone close just in case.

The only sailors who can have overnight liberty are those who are considered Grad & Go's over to Great Lakes A-School. No one else. If they are moving after PIR weekend is over, they are NOT a G&G.

Here's the funny part - a lot of these recruits who are going to GL don't even realize they are a G&G, because they think of G&G's as only those sailors who FLY out of town. I've met moms who had to change motel rooms so they could have a second bed for their sailor because they had no idea they could keep them overnight!

I wish they would let other G&G's spend the night with family, but that's not the case.

kellysmom - Yes, if they are a G&G moving across the street to Great Lakes they can be given their phones, laptops, etc AFTER they move. They move on PIR day, you will go back to hotel and they will call you about 5-6 hrs later to pick them up - but you are picking them up at the new base, so your gate/parking pass will not work (tell him to meet you at the gate). Then he get him for the ENTIRE weekend, even OVERNIGHT! Once you finally bring him back on Sunday or Monday (not sure because of holiday), then you hand him his electronics!

Remember only those who are Grad & Go's can be handed electronics, gifts, etc., and only once they are at the airport or have moved over to GL A-School. Otherwise, all new sailors returning to RTC each night cannot bring anything back to base with them. Exceptions are: money, debit/credit card, new wallet, new watch, and that's about it!
