OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Wendy I agree with you ..I remember getting the first letter and it wasn't a happy one. but when I talked to him right after that it was like he never even wrote the letter...I do believe that they do read the letter in BC because if they are not positive they are not passed on .

Wendy,
Did Jim tell you they read the recruit's mail in boot camp? That one is really hard for me to believe - I'm pretty sure that they didn't do that 25 years ago, and it seems that they are more sensitive to privacy than they used to be. The logistics of reading everyone's mail is pretty daunting as well - I know the RDCs don't have time for that sort of nonsense.
