We made our hotel reservations. It all seems so real now. Can't wait to leave. The weather here in Florida is finally turning to winter. I took it as a sign to get prepared for the real winter in Feb.
Booked my flight!!! I'm flying into Midway though and leaving from there as well. It saved me about 300 dollars though, so I'll take the hassle :)!
Good morning everyone, I hope you are having a good day.
Hey all! I hope your Christmas went well, I know we all miss our SR's but we'll see them soon :) Have a great day! <3
Good Morning, everyone. Hoping that today may have some letters in GL being mailed to you! Hope all have a good day.
Remember, for those starting to make arrangements for GL, put SARGE'S phone number in your phone. He is great for all transportation needs, and just for info in general about PIR weekend. So please don't hesitate to call him -
847-212-0246
He also holds a MeetNGreet, info up top.
Camo-Mom -Click the link under the Eagle up above...it will take you to a post that has the links for the Community Guidelines for N4M's - rules for this community specifically and then the OPSEC links that N4M's recommends to view. One is a video and one is an article.
Make sure you go to the SEALs/SWCC post up above in the discussion area too (just click the link here). sjtina is a SPECOP mom and you can ask her for advice too.
Regarding OPSEC - if it's public knowledge (ie on the news, on the ship's or the Navy website, or the Navy has issued a press release) then you can talk about it in public/online.
When my son's ship was on a tour of the Indian Ocean and the South Pacific, the Navy officially posted pictures of the ship and crew on the Navy's multiple websites, such as photos of Hong Kong's Victoria Harbor, or a visit to Thailand. That I could talk about, and did. There is no point to keeping quiet what is already announced. Sometimes it's a PR visit and they WANT people to talk about it.
But when Chris told me they were going to Guam, and the Navy did NOT post a press release or pictures on the official websites, then I kept quiet about what they were doing until it was over and the Navy officially announced the successful completion of exercises in that area.
Rule of thumb: if it is something you only know because your sailor told you, it is something to be kept to yourself, or discussed only in private (ie with family or close friends - NOT posted online).
Another thing - the Navy almost always identifies sailors in such photos by their full name, sometimes including their middle initial, their rate/rating and home town. Get used to this. You are told not to use their full names, but the Navy has no such restrictions. They only keep it secret when they want to keep it secret (usually only the SpecOps sailors, and maybe the high security communications/computers guys).
Arwen...thank you for that information. It is very helpful to understand how it all works. I am thankful my SR is doing what he chose to do. Enjoyed seeing the division pictures.
Thank you FTLW for posting the Division pictures!
