For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

I was also told that I should have gotten the insurance stuff last week, and I still haven't. :( I'm kinda freaking out about that.

Im not sure if any of you believe in prayer, but my grandmother (who practically raised me) is in ICU. Things aren't looking good at all she's on life support and we won't know if they'll be able to get her off of it. Not having my husband by my side is making this more difficult. I would appreciate if anyone would send a prayer out for my Mamaw and our family. Thank you. <3

Comment by Arwen on December 22, 2011 at 12:47pm: Winterrosebud, I'm not sure what's going on with the double calls. Maybe the first was a security call, then the next was an individually earned call?

Early on RDCs sometimes allow individual recruits to earn phone calls, usually a few guys who manage to get their boots shined perfectly and their ironing right immediately after arrival. It also serves to make the others feel like there is hope, a hope which they operate on until that third week call (which actually happens at the end of their fourth or fifth week at GL).

I don't know if it's all Ship 12 Div 053 or not? Early Christmas present!!! Other navy moms/wives/girlfriends will have to let me know!

He has great rates and is full of info. He also hosts a MeetNGreet for you all the night before PIR...in the area of Springhill Suites, Residence Inn, and Courtyard Inn...Walmart Shopping center area. Here's his number. Feel free to call/text him for info on transportation!
