For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Does anyone know if we should keep writing them or stop now? Not sure how long they can still receive letters?

I should probably get packed as well! ;) thanks for all the suggestions and great PIR stories...I will definitely have my phone in hand ALL day!!

My SR is Ship 03 Div. 176, but I think that isn't so important as all of us just being there for all our recruits...sailors in less than a week! I am so proud of my daughter...she is looking great and sounds very happy with being in the Navy, which makes me happy for her, and also worried, but that's just a mom thing, as I am sure we all know! LOL! I am really looking forward to PIR...just realized that this time next week, we'll BE there!!! Wow. I really need to start packing!

Comment by Lala Ribbon Queen PIR Ribbons on May 31, 2012 at 8:57pm: When my Sailor called I saw the 847 area code and I looked at my husband and said it's her and the phone continued to ring. i looked back at him and he said well don't you think you should answer it. Lol I think I was in shock or something. Everything felt like it was moving in slow motion that whole day. It's definitely one i will never forget :-)
