Good Morning Everyone. Just got a phone call from Shawn. Ship 03/Div 173 Kicked Ass at Hell week. They got every flag they were able to get, and some kind of medal/something on the top of their Flag.
Hoo Rah Div 173 !!!!
Shawn got Marksman, and gets a ribbon for it. He got a 2nd ribbon for something else, I dont remember what that one is for.
But now they are in trouble, and have been the last few days.:(
Their RDC's said they talk too much. They almost lost their chance to call today.
Shawn said He has been given the Job of Division 'Babysitter'. All SR's that get sent back to their division are put by him, and the SR's not doing well.
He said he thinks he may be made the new Section Leader, and will find out the next few days. He wants it and doesnt at the same time. Pro to being Section Leader is giving up being Division Babysitter. Con is he gets yelled at more.
Tough choice. Lets hope they stop talking so much. I think they are getting Short timers syndrome starting their 5 week.
Janie
Hope all of you get to hear from your SR today.
gc- I bought one for my daughter as a going away present when she went to bootcamp. There are lots of them to choose from online. Just do a search on google. They are less than $20 on overstock.com and they are sterling silver. They also have a lot of them on Amazon.com for a wide range of prices. Just remember they need to be silver in color, not yellow gold. Here is one I just saw on overstock.com for $20
I want to get my daughter a Mariner's Cross necklace for graduation but have not had any luck finding one. Has anyone noticed seeing one or has anyone purchased one? I'd appreciate any info on where to find one. Thanks!
On a grad gift note: I found very nice Navy scrapbook/photo album at Hobby Lobby. It was $40 but get 40% off with coupon. It is covered in fabric and is a replica of dress blues. I plan on giving it to her after graduation with some pages already filled of preboot camp pics and info. She can add letters to it that she rec'd at camp and then I'll bring it home until after 'A' school. It is large so it can 'grow' with her Navy career.
Lala: Let me know how it works! My mom just used Vicks/socks on my dad the other night and said it was amazing. He slept like a baby. Another friend who has 3 little ones says it works like a charm for sleeping. So hoping that it helps you! Feel better!
juliebelle: Hmmmmm.....soo....maybe a few smudges of Vicks in Glad Wrap folded up and inserted in a letter??? They could use their own socks....hmmmm....ok, so the smell would give it away, I'm sure. Can you imagine the comments if the SR had to open an envelope with Vicks ointment in there??? Uh oh.... but I bet they have Vicks in the NEX!
Good Morning everyone and Happy Saturday. Sorry I was MIA yesterday. I had to take my Mom to the Doc and then we went shopping. I needed supplies and she just needed to get out of the house :-) We finally have a new Joann Fabric Store in Asheville :-) Loving that we have a new place but man fabric just gets more and more expensive!!! But I did find fusible vinyl. You can iron it to any fabric and make it waterproof. How cool is that? Now I just have to figure out what to use it on lol. I hope you all have a wonderful weekend :-)
Wow SarahsMom you sound like me, busy, busy, busy. One week from today my baby and one of my step-daughters graduate from high school. And lots of family will be here to visit including my Sailor :-) So much going on and so exciting!!!!
Thanks so much ProudMominJersey, I am so glad you love the ribbons. I am doing my best to stay way ahead on orders and get them out as quickly as possible :-)
Vicks on feet with socks, I may have to try that tonight. I woke up congested in my chest and coughing :-( I DO NOT have time to be sick lol.
juliebelle: THAT....or.....Vicks on the bottoms of the feet with socks on! I hear that works like a charm for congestion and "no burning" like the gas chamber! :-)
The gas chamber is a "cure all" for those with respiratory illnesses going on at the time! Just burns that "stuff" right out of them! :-)
ctav01, glad to hear her fourth letter was more upbeat. It is funny how many of them look forward to the gas chamber, I for one would be dreading it.
It's amazing how their disposition changes as letters progress.
